Since when do we get no notice on an offer being accepted that we make as a buyer?
I made an offer on an item. I guess it was accepted. I got no notification. Ebay paid it out of my account. I didn't even know about it. The seller just sent me a message offering other items. When I go and look, the purchase is in my Purchases. But, I knew nothing.

·1 year agoMy guess the seller had "immediate payment required" that you agreed to when making your offer.
When a buyer does this, they just need to make sure the funds are there in the account they have set up for immediate payment.
You are correct that the buyer gets no notification. I made two offers yesterday. When I went to my summery page today, that is when I noticed the seller accepted.
I see this as nothing more than the electronic banking financial scam. They are just ready to jump on you for NSF fees.
Overall. If you make several offers, say totaling 200.00+, you need to make sure those funds are in that account you have set up.

I don't see how it is a scam to be expected to pay for something you have made an offer on.

·1 year agoIt's on the buyer not to be making offers they can't honour. That's not a scam, that's being responsible.

·1 year ago"In my purchases" was your notification. Maybe I'm wierd but I like it when I make an offer and the process is automated like that. Saves me having to get a message telling me to pay and then maybe logging into my PayPal account etc.
If I make an offer I intend to buy the item, if I don't intend to buy it, I don't make an offer.
You state you knew nothing. You knew you made the offer......right?

·2 years agoOn most occasions, when I make an offer, eBay confirms my chosen payment source before I submit the offer.
Also informs me that the item will be paid for with said payment source if the offer is accepted.

·2 years agoeBay has been taking steps to address widespread complaints by sellers about buyers not paying after accepting offers from buyers.
eBay has been testing a system that requires buyers to provide payment information at the time of the offer, and use that payment information to pay for the item upon acceptance or the offer.
It looks you you were included in that test.
I have no idea why you did not get a notification about the purchase. Its it possible you have that notification turned off in your preferences?

·2 years agoWhen you make an offer, you are offering to buy the item. The seller accepted and you were charged. This was implemented because many buyers were making offers, they were accepted, and then they didn't pay. Sellers then had to wait 4 days to be able to cancel the transaction. This speeds up the process and cuts down on non-paying bidders and people who make offers and never pay.
