Since its impossible to talk to a ebay employee

Summary: mychnkids expressed frustration over an eBay transaction where their card was allegedly damaged by an authenticator, leading them to quit eBay after 20 years. stainlessenginecovers questioned how the damage was attributed to the authenticator rather than shipping. Other participants, including d.mang, shared similar experiences and skepticism about eBay's process. luckythewinner discussed potential issues with trust in the authenticity process, while mam98031 provided details on contacting eBay customer service. The conversation highlighted dissatisfaction with eBay's handling of customer issues, particularly concerning authenticators and damage disputes.

I'm walking away from selling on ebay for 20 years after this mess up, I sold a card and the Ebay authenticator employee damaged my card and tried telling me i didnt describe the card as damaged when my pictures clearly show no damage and the card was in perfect condition look at my feedback i do not sell things that are broken or damaged it was fun but making it impossible to go after your employee for damaging a 500 dollar card and returning it to me like i was the one who damaged it i hope the company crumbles.

One would expect those packages would be opened under camera - you're sure the damaged item is the same one, not a previously damaged one that got swopped in?

Sometimes it seems as if you can't talk to a human since you can't find a phone number to call, but you can still talk to Ebay if you choose to.

On each Ebay page there is a link to contact Customer Service at the top of the page and again at the bottom of the page.

Here are your options for contacting Ebay Customer Service. Please be aware that for social media CS, you send them a Private Message and briefly explain what your problem or issue is. Feel free to leave your Name, address, phone number and/or your email address in this message. It is private and secure and it may help to speed up the response for you.

    https://www.instagram.com/ebay/

    https://www.instagram.com/ebayforsellers/

Your options will be on the left. If you use the link below you can only get to the Automated Assistant or Chat box type AGENT in the box and hit enter. You will then get more options. Not all options are available 24/7. It will depend on staffing available. So sometimes you can request a call back and sometimes you can't. Sometimes you have the Chat option available and other times it won't me. If it is important to you to use one of those options, just try back later.

If you use a cell phone or other mobile device, you may need to turn off your Spam filter so that Ebay can call you.

If you are a seller outside of the US or Canada, you will need to use the Chat Option.

I'm dealing with the EXACT same issue! The authenticator damaged my $300 psa 10 slab and returned it to me. ebay trying to not refund me for the damages. fat chance, they owe me. will escalate as much as needed. this is a $50B company, they need to do better.

If damaged at the authenticator they are not going to admit to damaging it. Hopefully you will get the same card back and it is in the condition you sent it in. It may be that the authenticator is not wanting to authenticate to the grade you advertised it.

There is what looks like a similar card that went for way more. I suppose it is conceivable that $500 could be realistic price if it had received more views and bids. If nothing is wrong with card when you get it back maybe you can better describe it and resell it for more.

"If damaged at the authenticator they are not going to admit to damaging it." super legitimate business practice we are dealing with here.

You don't have a $500 card sold. That makes me doubt the rest of your story as well.

On a third-party e-commerce venue like eBay, the pictures on your listing mean less to eBay than the authenticator's word.

Let's consider an alternate universe where a bad seller has two cards, one of which is damaged. The seller takes pictures of the good card for his listing, but ships the damaged card to the authenticator. When the authenticator reports it damaged, eBay assumes the seller made a mistake.

How is eBay supposed to distinguish between your situation and the alternate universe that I described? The answer is ... they can't. eBay assumes that the authenticators are hoest, just as they assume that USPS delivery scans are accurate.

you ebay glazers are beyond pathetic. if someone tried to fraud a listing, the buyer could just force a return. thinking is useful sometimes. this whole authenticator nonsense if a total joke. ebay has no clue. "eBay assumes that the authenticators are hoest" the legal system is not built on assumptions, little guy.

Let's see what we can solve! What kind of damage did the card sustain?

How in the WORLD do you know the 'authenticator damaged your card' and it wasn't done during shipping to them??

Not OP, but the answer is "common sense". I have bought and sold thousands of items via USPS, and I have not once had USPS damage a card in transit. Then, first time is goes to an authenticator, huge damage. It's pretty obvious who did it.

@d.mang and I've shipped out over 30,000 packages since 2011 and received 1000 back to me (or items I've bought) and 80% of the packages are 'pretty beat up'.

There is still NO proof that it happened by the Authenticator and more than likely that 300 lb box right behind it on the conveyor belt during shipping did it.

I just really doubt it. Never gotten a damaged card during usps transit, and the very first time it goes to an auth. it gets hit with an odd crack/ cut. it even sat at the authenticator for over 2 weeks before they sent it back. cant help but feel occams razor applies here.
