Simple listings no more?!
Summary: fracfam6 expressed frustration over an AI tool used for creating sales listings that has vanished, which simplified their listing process. Responses varied, with krazzykats providing a navigation tip, while others like shire123 recommended alternative strategies such as using existing listings on popular platforms. Several participants criticized AI-generated descriptions, noting that they often lack accuracy and fail to engage buyers effectively. A humorous tone was adopted by some, suggesting AI's unpredictability or advocating against its use in listing processes.
I was loving the AI tool that helped with creating sales listings! It wasn't perfect and I had to look everything over, but it was GREAT to be able to snap a quick photo, get a pricing suggestion, and have most information categories auto-filled. Now suddenly it has disappeared, and it looks like, based on my searches, that maybe it's gone forever? This seems incredibly cumbersome and I'm a pretty small time seller. Am I missing something? Can we get a simple list tool back, please?

·6 days agoNot only are you a small-time seller; you sell pre-owned items. So you have the time and a very strong reason to create your own listings. Honestly the only sellers who (maybe) should be using AI are mega-stores of brand new items.
Your photos look great by the way. Put that much skill into your listing and research for pricing, and you'll do much better than letting a robot do it.

I think the AI description users are the same people who used to just repeat the title in the description and that's it. So...no more informative than before but there are more wurds now.

·6 days agoFWIW it's obvious when an item has a lazy AI description and I skip over those every single time. Don't they want to sell their stuff?

·6 days agoAI thinks it is human now, and took a vacation (like humans do). Don't use AI, it will control you, hypnotize you.

Only if it's your lucky day.

·6 days agoWhat I often do is find the same item or very similar item on ebay and click on "sell similar". In that way most of the item specifics are filled in. I just check them to be sure they are accurate.
I avoid AI descriptions like the plague. Most buyers hate them. Ebay pricing suggestions are in the ballpark maybe 25% of the time and sometimes WAY OFF. Always research what the item has sold for in the past.
