How much did you make in profit anyway? I'll bet you still made profit. Most sellers make on average 6 an order so you should be happy with anything over that you need to make up for it in volume. Do what I do buy in bulk.
I sell at pop-up consignment sales too - $10 fee and pay 40% of the selling price. Plus cost of hangers, pins, ink, zip ties, rubber bands and paper. And then gas to and from for drop off and pick up. And there is a cap as to how many items you can bring. There are always lost and damaged items as well. Ebay is bargain in comparison.

IMO, this is one of the biggest problems with selling at in-person places. It is unbelievable how many things get stolen or torn up/damaged in an antique mall. Yes, accidents happen but many times the damage is on purpose. The last thing I had torn up was a newer collectable doll; "they" pulled the arms and legs off of it and threw them on the floor. And the mall is not responsible for loss or damage; if it gets stolen or broken, it's the dealer's loss.
What you should do is charge more for whatever it costs you to sell the item. Know what your Ebay fees in advance before listing the item and add that to the cost to the buyer. Now if you are selling items for say $7 or less and the item is say $6 or more to ship chances are it won't sell which you can maybe create a bulk listing. If items do not sell within a certain period of time I would say list your items on other platforms as well to see if other people could be interested.
i paid 14 dollars for a print out address firm wtheck
If you're talking about a shipping label, shipping isn't cheap.
...and eBay doesn't collect that money anyway; it goes to the carrier you chose for the shipment. The on-line price you pay for postage via eBay (or other on-line site such as PirateShip) is significantly less than the full retail price you'd pay over the counter.
That is a question only you can really answer, You either accept the terms of selling or you don't, Or perhaps you need to evaluate the way you ship & make some changes.

·8 months agoAre you offering Free Shipping?
That's just "adspeak" for "Shipping is included in the asking price".
TANSTAAFL.
Which is cheaper?
A $10 item with $5 shipping?
A $5 item with $10 shipping?
A $15 item with Free Shipping?
And yes you will pay for shipping labels, using the money the buyer pays you .
Shipping is a major cost for selling by mail order.
Online selling is mail order.
Shipping is the hardest part of online selling.

·8 months agoShould you stop selling based upon this one thing? Seems a bit drastic, but you need to do what's best for you.
You could also try improving your business by purchasing better quality inventory at a lower cost - but the blame game won't solve that for you.

·8 months agoDo you know if you’re sponsored? That could be a big reason why the fee is so high. It’s always important to be aware of your fees.

Let's face it, selling online isn't for everyone. I'm OK with less competition 🙂

·8 months agoWhat do you think eBay's fees should be?
If you are not happy with the profit you are making, then that is on you, for not pricing your items correctly, to absorb said fees.
Actually, eBay's fees are in line with other online selling venues and with eBay, you have worldwide exposure to your items.
