Should I keep my current eBay store or should I start over?
I have about fifteen years invested in my eBay account. I have over 800 transactions, almost half as a seller. I had a perfect feedback score until the past year. Two quite random negative feedbacks have dropped my feedback to 96.4%. I'm concerned about this obviously hurting my sales and am working towards doing eBay full time. In these circumstances should I keep my account with the low feedback or should I start over?

·3 years agoI would NOT start over, for reasons that have already been given. Also, the neg that's over a year old, is not taken into account in your percentage.
Just ramp up your selling a bit & don't worry about the one. Assuming you have lots of other POS FB, that one NEG wouldn't deter me, in buyer mode.

·3 years agoI would not start over. A new account means you will see no funds for 30+ days as a new seller on that account. Plus you have to set everything up all over again and hope everything is in order.

·3 years ago96% is not bad. Most won't even bother 'reading' the feedback- but if they do, you can simply respond to those feedback in a professional manner that lets customers know you take care of them.

·3 years agoI'd recommend keeping your current account. If I see a seller with 96.4% feedback, my personal inclination isn't to skip over you, but rather to read your feedback. If I only saw 2 negatives I'd have no problems buying from you. That's just me though, and like other have already said your negatives drop off after a year, or even sooner if you contact eBay and possibly get them removed.

·3 years agoWhen I see someone with relatively low feedback and a score like that, I'm usually right in assuming that there was some kind of common human error, or a nutcase left FB or something - it doesn't deter me.
I would just keep going - starting all over again will open you up to the 'new seller blues' - scam attempts, lack of buyer confidence, etc.

·3 years agoI think you should stick with the established account. Your percentage will improve significantly when the older neg rolls off, and you'll have that nice high feedback total number. Starting with zero might be even more difficult to get sales than using an established account with a 96% rating. As others have pointed out, it's difficult to give advice when we don't know how old the negs are, nor how damaging the specifics of their comments might be.
Meanwhile, remember that your feedback percentage is based on all feedback received, including feedback received as a buyer. You can boost your percentage a little by purchasing a few items from those large Sellers who automatically leave feedback as soon as they're paid.

OP3 years agoOne of the negative feedbacks is over a year old. The other one is from last October and went something like this:

·3 years agoThe one over a year old is a non-issue. It's not affecting your feedback percentage. The wording isn't great for the newer neg, but your response is very good. Your buyer sure fretted over a $5 item. You have already had it for 4 months, I'd just wait it out. (I've gotten a couple of negs over past years, I understand the angst of having one, but just hang in there.)

·3 years agoYou should keep your current account, 96.4 is not too bad. Keep in mind that feedback only goes back 1 year. After a year if you have all good transactions you will go back to 100% positive feedback.
You should also contact eBay by phone and see if there is any way you could have the negative feedback removed.

·3 years agoI would not change names, just my opinion.
The negs will drop off after a year. It's a lot of work to move all your listings to a new name. Could result in mistakes. You could start out your new selling career with your brand new name with another neg on your very first sale. Will that make you change your name again? If you had a fairly new account with 2 negs, then yes I would change my name, but not with a fully established account. If they even look at your feedback, buyers can see all your other good feedback and will realize that the 2 negs were out of the ordinary for you. Try not to let it get to you and just continue to provide good products and good customer service.

·3 years agoShould I stay or should I go now? If I go there will be trouble. And if I stay it will be double.

·3 years agoLooks like you just started this account about a week ago. So maybe you have already made your decision.
Like @dhbookds said, hard to say without the info on the old account. How long ago and how serious were the negs? If the negs are fairly recent, it also depends on the volume of your sales. Lots of good sales will raise the % more quickly. Captain Obvious here.

·3 years agoHard to say without more info..........feedbacks fall off after a year......if the negs are 10 months ago......how long will it take you to "ramp" up your sales?......if you can do it in 2 months, I'd forge ahead.....assuming the neg statements aren't too bad...... If they are recent, I'd try a new account, let the old one age off.......and perhaps try to run both.......

·3 years agoYou could try selling a lot of idiot proof items. That strategy to inflate positive feedback does not always work because simple commodities don't often get feedback unless you slip a candy bar and to the shipment. If you can't get it above 98 then you should probably start a second account.
