Should I Give Up?
I have a buyer who did not receive their item in UK.
We went back and forth with emails(a lot)...possible replacement(stamps) or request a refund.
It appears buyer doesn't know how to request a refund.
He said he asked for a refund in feedbacks...silly, right?
I get a neutral feedback 'Not as described. Refund promised.'
I am assuming if he doesn't know how to open a claim for a refund he will not know how to do a revision.
I feel like just blocking him and let it go...
If I do a refund without a claim like in my past...as before... artificial intelligence will 'ding' me as a 'out of stock'.
That is what happened to me once before.
Any thoughts?

·5 months agoI would just restate that a refund can't be issued unless a request is formally filed in ebay. Tell him to have ebay CS guide him since you are only a seller and don't have access to their account. And leave it at that. I wouldn't even block him, he already left feedback. He might message you something significant later on, which you won't receive if you block him.

·5 months agoSend back all the money except for 1 penny with reason of "Other".
Although I don't think you get the out of stock ding if it has been a while since the order was marked as shipped. I refunded one the next day once and got that ding (trading card, somehow got slammed in the car door when my wife was taking stuff to the post office). But I have had several that I have fully refunded after a much longer period without a request through the system and I never got any sort of ding on those.

·5 months agoProtect yourself by doing nothing, This is entirely up to the buyer, You don't want an out of stock ding on your account!, Better to take that one neutral, Block the buyer, Smile & move on.

·5 months agoHe can't file a claim? Maybe ebay won't let this particular
buyer file a claim.
Good point.
Most philatelists are not only brighter than average, but also more honest.
And as a group they actively enjoy reading and following instructions.
Generally a good group to work with. We are blessed, @12345jamesstamps !
If you believe him, get his email address and send the refund by Paypal.
If you don't, stop corresponding, especially since he has already negged you, and Block him.
Possible response to neg "Has not opened a Claim so that I can refund afterXX days"

·5 months agoDoesn't matter, the OP is doing this to protect himself, not hold the hand of the buyer. The buyer is actually kind of irrelevant. If a refund is given outside of a return/refund request, the OP will be the one who gets punished, not the buyer.

·5 months agoSend him screenshots in place of written directions. Send a pic of the Purchase History page and open the dropdown menu so he can see exactly where he needs to go to open the return. Once he does that, you can send the refund. If he doesn't follow those directions, contact CS via your Drafts page so they can connect you to Returns where they'll flag the transaction so you're protected.
As you correctly pointed out, if he gets the refund outside of the MBG required procedure, you will be on the hook.

·5 months agoI'm losing patience with some of these "Buyers"
The constant hand holding and explaining is exhausting.
Maybe he can't use the drop-down menu to file a case
because of past abuse and ebay pulled the plug.

Item shipped from San Francisco to United Kingdom...Received it in "8 days" and states stamps were not inside the envelope when he opened it...and took a photo of envelope he got from me and emailed the empty envelope. 8 days from USA to UK is fast!
Is that crazy?
He knows how to send a photo of envelope sent in an email but doesn't know how to request a refund.
Crazy...hun?

·5 months agoI've had a rash of issues like this lately. After I tell the buyer
to file a claim with ebay? I'd stop the back and forth.

·5 months agoDon't do anything. Let it go. Block the buyer and move on. The buyer is responsible if knowing the correct way to request a refund. If they don't then that's on the buyer.
