Should I Charge Him Extra?
I am thinking about making a listing for "quick packing" and tell him he will have to buy the "quick packing" service for me to get off my butt and pull this item tonight. I'm kidding, of course.

OP5 months agoThank you for all the replies. That order went out today.
For those that wanted to know, the item was a VCR/DVD combo unit (4th one I've sold in two weeks). I paid a $1 for it last Saturday at an estate sale. I listed it on Tuesday and it sold on Thursday. I should have listed it for more as there are a couple of comps in that $140-$150 range. I listed mine at $103. I don't know if I looked at the wrong model number or if I mistyped my price. With comps in that range, I would have listed it about $170. Oh well. I spent $60 total at the estate sale. This is the first item that sold, and I'm +$35 in profit on the whole buy just with the VCR sale. I have about $250 list value currently listed from that sale, with 19 more SKUs to list. The other winner is a Canon Powershot camera that will go for about $150 take or give.
I hope ya'll have good sales this weekend. I had two good ones this morning.

·5 months agoReply that you use a drop shipper to fill your orders and can't control if they include a packing list.

·5 months agoTell us it was an inexpensive item and I might do what the buyer wants.
If it was an expensive item it might be a 'drama buyer' and I say good luck and hope no added headache becomes of it.

Well, at least he called you "my friend" which started off the conversation on a pleasant note.

·5 months agoIt's not the process that's a bit amusing it's the request - hey, he's being honest! 😄

·5 months agoI am always glad to drop ship for a buyer, they pay my asking price and have the ship to address on file and I do not care what they do with the item and I ship every day anyway.

·5 months agoWell at least he's being honest that for whatever reason he has had to use you as a drop shipper, so I'd probably cut him some slack.
He may even not be an actual drop shipper but a frantic seller who suddenly finds they can't fulfil an order.

·5 months ago@christworks I have one day handling time, so unless this item was something that could take a long time to pack (need to create a Frankenbox, etc), or I am facing other time constraints, I would have no problem shipping today or at least printing out the label sometime today. It's pretty obvious he is drop shipping, which could be the usual way he operates or it could be he sold something, discovered he's out of stock or simply can't find the item, so he's buying yours to replace it, and having you send it directly to the customer, which avoids an out of stock ding and an unhappy buyer. Either way, I have no problem, he paid for the item, I'll ship it, and requests like this are not so common that they take a real toll on my business.
One of the few advantages I have over the big corporate type sellers is the flexibility that comes with being small.

·5 months agoI may also need to implement the quick packing charge as I also get those from time to time, Especially around the Holidays.

·5 months agoYour customer can share the tracking number with their customer, but once it’s been used on eBay, it can’t be reused or entered again on eBay.

·5 months agoI would honor that request free of charge ... but i'm not you.
I have no idea what's going on in your life and how much of a hardship that would be.
Whatever you decide is the right decision.

OP5 months agoI was kidding. I just find messages like that funny. I'm glad they actually messaged me. If they had tacked on the message to the order, which is what most Dropshippers I've dealt with do, I would not have seen it until maybe the next day.
I doubt he promised his customer anything actually. It is likely a standard message they send to sellers. They have purchased over 40k items on eBay in the past 10 years, so they have themselves a nice little business going and never have to pack a thing.

·5 months agoTell them it will go out as soon as you can source the item, and hopefully your seller wont include the packing list.

OP5 months agoOMG that would be so funny. 🤣 I am going to remember that next time I get one.
I've always had good business with drop shippers. I've got one guy who flips on Amazon and he has bought several things from me. I will even give him a heads up when I list something I think he will want. I've also got a company who buys a certain item from me that they flip on their own website for much more. They will pay me my asking price, which is above eBay market, because they know I do good business and if I say something works, it works.

·5 months agoLol yea I was thinking the same thing. Tell them that you will give them the tracking number as soon as your seller (on ebay) replies to you with the tracking number or ships it out.

As a seller, I will pay you to get off your butt and pull this item to make my customer happy, I am serious.

·5 months agosounds like your customer, is drop shipping your product to his customer, and that's why he's so antsy to get that tracking number to provide to his customer.
If he doesn't post that number, he may get hit with a late shipping ding.
That's all just a guess on my part, but it's how I'm reading it.
a_c_green
·5 months agoHe's not going to be able to post that number anyway, as it belongs to the sale of @christworks (who I assume will be uploading that tracking number as soon as the label is purchased). If he tries to upload it to his sale as well, he'll get an error message.

·5 months agoYes that is true. His buyer is just changing the "ship to" address to the address of his customer for delivery.
The buyer is drop shipping though because he said right out that the item is for a customer.

·5 months agoOh obviously, I agree.
Nothing wrong with that.
A sale is a sale.

·5 months agoI would be thinking about raising my prices. 😉 Sounds like he's listing and selling your item(s) at higher prices.

OP5 months agoha ha. this one got by me. I think I comped the wrong model when I listed it on Tuesday. Tonight I'm seeing comps about $30 or so more than my price. Either those couple of listings didn't pop up when I looked or I looked at the wrong model.
They didn't flip it on eBay. Normally these get flipped on Amazon, where they usually go for much more. Next to international sales, I'll gladly take a sale to a dropshipper, and I won't turn my nose up at the $95 net return I made on my $1 investment five days ago. This is the first item that sold from that buyout, and I'm in the profit already just on this sale. Everything else is gravy. 🤑

·5 months agoI would charge extra cause they expect immediate service and service costs money and time.
