I just ran into a buyer choosing this to delay payment for seven days. Can I cancel the order for non-payment after 4 days?

OP1 month agoThanks for the responses. Turns out that the buyer did pay early solving the problem.

·1 month ago@fs31517111 Well yes you can do that, but why do you want to burn a new customer that may just need some guidance? You are a new seller, so this buyer may not have the experience to know that this isn't something most sellers would be willing to do.
With professionalism and kindness, you should reach out to you buyer and let them know that you expect payment right away.
With that said, IDK what you mean by the "buyer choosing this to delay payment for seven days"? Is it a buyer that has now won one of your auctions and is also bidding on other auctions you have? If that is it, the you do need to wait. Buyers are allowed up to a week to shop and bid on multiple auctions with a single seller.

While I am not a storefront I am not a new seller and this is buyer has been around since at least 2021.

This was the only auction that I had going at this time. In view of my travel plans I only have 3 Buy It Now listings. The buyer could have completed any additional shopping in about 5 minutes.

·1 month agoI meant no disrespect. According to what is public info, you have been a member since 2014 and have sold about 93 items. Or about 8 items a year. So while certainly not a new seller, Ebay would define you as a casual seller.
With the added info you have supplied, your buyer would NOT have 7 days to pay. So if they do not pay within 96 hours of their purchase, you can file for a Cancellation using the reason that the buyer never paid.
I would encourage you to make sure you have your Site Preferences for your Buyer Requirements set up to avoid this situation in the future. It is the last option in the pic below.

Why? You don't want to sell anymore?
If your auction is marked auto paid, it's going to be paid -- most important part to me -- sometime within the seven days and one hour window ... but again, it's gonna be paid. The buyer may not even know/understand that they can 'manually' pay at any time. Most of our seven day ones get paid within a day or two. Some even within an hour. A few take the whole 169 hours.
But they all get paid and in the end, isn't that what we all want.

OP1 month agoI intend to send the buyer a notice that if not paid after 4 days the order will be cancelled for non-payment. I have no other auctions currently to combine shipping so there is no reason for the delay.
I am going out of town and will not be able to ship the item in a timely manner if the buyer waits the full 7 days. I timed the original auction with this in mind. I will just start a new auction for the item when I return.

"the order will be cancelled for non-payment"
Send them a message, not an invoice -
I tried to look it up in ebay's useless help deal if sellers can cancel an auto pay but found nothing. On google it said you can't, as it will be paid, just in this case not as fast as you want it paid.
"I am going out of town and will not be able to ship ... "
OK, that would cause a problem - Mention that and manually paying in the message.
As I have never seen the pages/process of doing the auto bid deal I don't know what the default settings are - maybe it's the seven day one and the buyer never notice/though about it/changed
