Shipping to Germany
I had a buyer ask me why I’m not shipping to Germany. I guess by default it excludes Germany. Id like to include him but I’m not sure how or if I should. Did ebay exclude them for a reason? Is there extra paperwork or weird tax forms. I don’t want the headache of researching how you fill out customs forms.

·2 years agoYou never responded to my question regarding what the item was but I took a look at one of your posted items and it does ship to Germany via the EIS process so it is not in your excluded list in your seller settings but it may be one of those items that EIS will not accept. Again cannot tell without knowing what the item is but below is the link to the EIS policy that defines some of the general requirements for using EIS.

·2 years agoIt might help if you told us what the item was. If you are using EIS the program applies a broad approach to restricting items that can go through EIS often excluding items that could ship to Germany with no problem. If you are using EIS do you have alternative methods setup in your seller or listing settings?
Do you have Germany setup in your shipping preferences as one of the countries you don't ship to?

·2 years agoApparently the problem is when you us the eBay delivery systems. I have sent several packages recently using Pirateship/Asendia and not had any problems. And, no, I did not do all that fancy paperwork and registration folderol.

·2 years agoI don't think I've ever seen that word used. The last time I even heard it was on the Andy Griffith show, I think.
That brought a smile to my face, Thanks.

Germany has very strict customs rules and laws. To be honest, I wouldn't bother to even reply other than stating "We are not shipping to your country at this time. Thanks for your consideration regardless." And you're right... too many headaches. I shipped to Germany one time in my 25 years of selling and got the item back. Not worth it.

·2 years agoIt's the "weird tax forms"
"All manufacturers and retailers that sell or ship packaged goods to consumers in Germany are required to adhere to Germany's VerpackG (Packaging Act), which relates to the collection and recycling of packaging materials"
I had to contract with a German company and Register. It was not difficult or costly (I am a small seller), but it was a "pain"
@galactic-plastic
I found this page...maybe it will help
https://export.ebay.com/en/regulations/extended-producer-responsibility/german-packaging-act/
in addition, the day after I did all this, and for the following week or so, I had a "short run" of orders from Germany out of nowhere...coincidence? (I do not use ebay shipping)

·2 years agomonica-sells, did you have to give your social security number to register to ship to Germany?

I truthfully do not remember. I don't think so...I believe I just had to register the ship from address for my agent that I contracted with. Did it online. I am trying to locate the confirms for you.
After you acquire a LUCID ID
