Shipping rates
Summary: sandrac927 expresses frustration over eBay charging sellers fees on shipping costs while offering shipping discounts to buyers, which ultimately affects their profit margins. They plan to compensate for this by increasing item prices. lostintimevintage agrees, stating that they also dislike the new shipping fee changes and might have to raise prices to counterbalance the cost of packaging materials, especially as a vintage glass seller. authentic*vintage suggests starting a new discussion thread due to the topic's age, to which lostintimevintage responds with appreciation.
So here on eBay we get charged fees on our shipping costs. However I just received an email saying that they are going to automatically offer the discounted shipping to my buyers. But I still have to pay the fees. Before you discount the shipping to the buyers get rid of the fees on the sellers. We all as sellers have to pay for shipping supplies possibly storage , and yet they want to offer a discount to the buyer. I just put notification in my listings that says that I’ve discounted my items to compensate for the increase in shipping. If I have to offer discounted shipping I will have to increase my prices on my items.

·3 months agoI agree I do not like the new shipping fee changes. I buffer a small amount on what I put in for shipping to cover the cost of bubble wrap, tape... I just mailed something out that should have cost the buyer $9.60 per wt and diminsion of box. The rate was discounted to $5.95 for the buyer. I live in Iowa and the package is going to California. I have NEVER mailed anything to California at such a low rate. Now I am out for the expenses of bubble wrap and tape. I guess I will have to raise my rates. I am a vintage glass seller and I use a lot of bubble wrap. The bottom line is if someone wants something they will pay the cost of shipping. With out the sellers Ebay would not exist. So, why are the sellers getting the shaft.
