Shipping not specified on sellers using eIS
Summary: chicweb identified a bug in eBay's search results where listings using eBay International Shipping (eIS) show "Shipping not specified" for international buyers. Despite some skepticism from other participants, chicweb asserts this affects all listings across various eBay platforms. After involving eBay support and the community, it was confirmed that this was indeed a bug being addressed. chicweb opted out of using eIS until the issue was resolved but later resumed after the fix.
I'm not sure if this was discussed already here, but there seem to be a bug on search results at the moment.
All listings of sellers using eBay International Shipping is showing: Shipping not specified to international buyers.
I've tested on .com, .ca, .co.uk... a lot of listings shows "Shipping not specified". When clicking on the actual listing, we can see they are shipping with eIS.

·1 month agoWhen I log on to eBay Canada, where I buy from, and I select location as Canada Only, shipping costs are shown on the listings when I browse. Any stuff using eIS does not. Still a bug?
chicweb
OP1 month ago · EditedThis is not related. Since you chose Canada Only and you are in Canada, you don't see any sellers from outside Canada. It's all national shipping, not international.
Only buyers outside of the country of the seller will see eIS. (If the seller has opted in, also).

·1 month agoProbably NOT a glitch.
Ebay wants the buyer to 'click' the item so they are not scared off before clicking- then possibly being 'engaged' with the product, customer will buy.

OP1 month agoeBay support confirmed they are aware of the bug and working to fix it.

OP1 month ago · EditedI personnally decided to opt out of ebay eIS until this is fixed.
My shipping prices are now showing correctly in searches.
I will let other sellers decide if they want to keep their shipping price hidden from searches or not.
I also want to limit the number of clicks from non-buying customers so promoted fees are not triggered too much for nothing.
When this bug will be fixed, I might use eIS again in the future.

·1 month agoNothing you or anyone else has identified on this thread looks like a reason I would opt out of EIS.
EIS is extra gravy to me. I will not ship internationally by any other method. So whatever warts it might have, it is my choice.

·Sep 18, 2026 at 4:28 PMEverything is hunky-dorry now showing the eIS costs.
If I was selling on eBay, I would definitely use eIS, assuming I was 'qualified'. As a buyer, eIS stinks and is why I can't afford to buy stuff from US sellers who are afraid of what might happen if they don't use it ... the scammers scared them big time.

·Sep 18, 2026 at 6:45 PMAs a Canadian buyer, you have greater reason to avoid EIS than other international buyers.
The identical weight and packaging (4oz 6"x8"x1") item costs a Canadian US$24.99 when it costs a UK buyer US$15.99. The problem is the cost of tracked delivery in Canada. My EIS shipments to Canada are less consistent in the carrier who does last mile delivery than my shipments to other countries which my buyers are commonly located in. This suggests no one carrier used by EIS is capable of handling that large nation, or cost-effective through many provinces.

chicweb
OP1 month ago · EditedSure, sales still work. Specifically if it's returning customers.
It doesn't affect the actual sale if a buyer click on your listing.
It affect browsing your products from outside your country. Here is what I see when I browse your products.

·1 month agoAre shipping costs displayed once you open the listing?
If not, I would hazard to guess that that means the item doesn’t ship to Canada.
chicweb
OP1 month ago · EditedYes the shipping is shown when clicking on the listing.
The biggest problem is that no buyer will click on a "Shipping Not Provided" listing thinking instinctively the item won't ship to them, which is understandable.
You can test yourself. Do any search on any eBay website and you will surely see a ton of Shipping Not Provided caused by this issue. You can try switching your country in the search results. All american eIS listings will show Shipping Not Provided, even if they do.

When a listing shows "shipping not specified," it means that the seller didn't properly fill out the shipping portion when listing their item(s).
Please post an item number so we can see what you're talking about.
chicweb
OP1 month agoThank you for trying to help.
But as specified, this apply to ALL EBAY SELLERS. Not me specifically, not any one specifically.
ALL sellers are affected.
eIS is not showing to anyone.

·1 month agoJust because it's not doing what you "want" it to do, I wouldn't call that a bug. Show me something that says ebay promises EIS will be shown in the search results...
chicweb
OP1 month ago · EditedSo you are telling me you really think hiding shipping cost to buyers IS what eBay would want?
If it's the case, this would be the dumbest idea a platform would want to implement that hurt their buyers and sellers, both at the same time. ( Oh and hurting their own shipping service for which they have employees to pay, and let's be honest make a bit of profit with?)
Finally, if they would have to hide it, they would choose something other than "Shipping not Specified". Something more like "Shipping with eIS".
Yes, I believe this is a bug.
inhawaii
·1 month ago · EditedThey are not "hiding" the shipping cost.
It's right there if you click on the listing.
Aren't you complaining that it's not showing up in search results the way you would like it to?
chicweb
OP1 month ago · EditedYes, yes.
Because Clicking on a listing to see shipping price breaks the conversion rate and completely destroy the buying experience. It also cause problems with promoted ads with the new way eBay bills promoted ads as soon there's a click.
Again, it is a bug. I contacted support and they received many reports and are looking into this problem.
grann-4629
·1 month agoIt also causes eBay to send you messages telling you that you looked at the item (!), then another one telling you it's a trusted seller, then another one telling you the seller is taking offers, then another one showing you what other items the seller has listed, and yada yada yada.
Maybe that's why they decided to hide the excessive shipping costs these days.
chicweb
OP1 month ago · EditedOffers can be sent by sellers if you clicked at least two times on an item or add to watchlist.
In fact, buyers will click more on listings with this bug, risking receiving even more offers from sellers because of that.
Showing the prices directly in searches save time and resources to everyone. You won't click on listings with shipping too high, therefore you won't receive offers for that listing.
gurlcat
·1 month agoOffers can go to people who clicked only once, actually. We ran an experiment on it here. The results pointed to the bigger factor being whether the person was on the app or the website. App = more likely to be considered an "interested buyer" from one click than a web user.
chicweb
OP1 month ago · EditedI think you are right about ebay sending messages when you looked at items... But this problem causes more clicks... then more messages from eBay ;) Hiding it isn't helping. hehe.
grann-4629
·1 month agoThe only clicks are the ones I hear when I hit the delete key to dump the SPAM from my mailbox. If the price was shown in the listing, I wouldn't need to click anything except the 'show me another item' button, if there was one.

·1 month ago · Edited"Clicking on a listing to see shipping price breaks the conversion rate and completely destroy the buying experience."
Clicking on the listing completely destroys the buying experience??????????
chicweb
OP1 month ago · EditedForcing customers to click separately on each listings to compare multiple items to choose which to buy... Yes, it destroys the buying experience. Bad UI, Bad experience. That is why shipping cost always has been shown in searches and on categories for 20+ years on eBay.
grann-4629
·1 month agoI am seeing that also on every US listing I look at. I think eBay is hiding this information as shipping cost using eIS is wayyyy too high. I had one offer for a $17 dvd with an $80 US mailing charge from NJ to MB!
As a buyer, I can't afford these high priced shipping deals that are designed only to take the responsibility off the seller to ensure delivery to the buyer. Once the item leaves the hub, the seller is off-the-hook for what happens after that.
chicweb
OP1 month agoI'm not sure it is intentional by eBay. It's fairly new and it causes eIS to be way less useful to sellers, which is not in their plan (I'm pretty sure).
gurlcat
·1 month agoHave you tried asking this on the Canada Community forum?
chicweb
OP1 month ago · EditedI'm not asking ;) I'm stating a fact.
It is the same on all websites. It doesn't matter if connected or not. It not is related to my account, my listings or any specific websites.
It's a problem on all ebay platforms for all sellers. International buyers can't see eIS shipping anywhere, on .com, .ca, .co.uk.
When clicking on an item with "Shipping not specified"
Doesn't matter if you are connected or not, from Canada, USA, UK... On .com, .ca or any other websites... As long the seller is using eIS and you are not in their country, you won't see the shipping in search / browsing product. Only on the listing itself.
chicweb
OP1 month agoTagging @devon@ebay here. It seem to be a fairly new bug? And I couldn't find any discussions about it... ;-)
Tried incognito browser, multiple websites. Tried being connected / not connected. Switching countries in the search results easily show the problem.
Thank you

Also, another pointer. Under Similar Items on a listing, we can see +delivery on problematic eIS.

I'm not seeing the same problem. And I suspect @devon@ebay is going to see the same as I'm seeing.
I looked at one of the listings you posted (specifically 188917484896) and this is what I see when I look at the shipping to Canada:
chicweb
OP1 month ago · EditedYou are looking at the listing.
The problem is not in the listing.. It's in the search results and browsing pages.
