Shipping defaults to service not offered in listing
Because the 'ship your item' page loaded with 'it' being picked/defaulted to, I just came 'thisclose' to buying/printing a label for an international flat rate padded envelope to ship a five pound, 6x8x11 inch box to Canada. Forget about the FR envelope weight limit being four pounds, flat rate anything wasn't one of the options offered in the listing.
The buyer picked USPS first class package international, ebay picked the flat rate.

·3 weeks agoI've noticed for a while that on items where I offer Free Shipping for 3 or more, ebay auto defaults to Priority. I have to keep an eye on those labels when I go to do them.

·3 weeks agoIf it wasn't eligible for USPS First Class Package International for any reason, eBay will default to some other shipping method. Were you able to purchase a USPS First Class Package International label via eBay after switching it?
If you share the item number, we can take a look at the listing too.

Box of Starbucks mugs to Canada.
"able to purchase a USPS First Class Package International label via eBay"
Yes, we could have used that service but we didn't anymore, because ebay always adds, and normally defaults to, it's own 'eBay International Standard Delivery' shipping service to all of our international sales. And as that is always cheaper [$4.59 this time] we use it.

·3 weeks ago · EditedIf you're going to use EISD, why isn't that the offered shipping option in the listing? I would not be switching the shipping method from what is shown in the listing, and when I look at that listing, EISD was not one of the offered shipping methods.
From the listing when I switch the delivery location to Canada:
USPS First Class Package International
Estimated between Tue, Jul 21 and Mon, Aug 10 to x
Shipping: US $47.60
USPS Priority Mail InternationalTM
Estimated between Mon, Jul 20 and Tue, Aug 4 to x
Shipping: US $53.85
You need to update your shipping options to the customer if you're going to be using a service like eBay International Standard Delivery.

OP3 weeks agoWhen we make a listing the 'eBay International Standard Delivery' isn't shown to be picked.
When we go to print the label it's always added and defaulted to.
The USPS international first or priority are not marked 'buyer selected' even thought the amount paid works out to be USPS first amount.

·3 weeks agoYou may have accidentally saved the flat rate as a default.

By 'accidentally save' do you mean 'accidentally picked' or 'selected' when making the listing? If so, then no.
"flat rate anything wasn't one of the options offered in the listing."
We have never offered any of the international flat rate options in any listing. We opened a 'sell similar' of listing to check and it's not offered.
