Shipping an expensive item to a person with 0 reviews

Question

Little background my fiancee and i just started selling on eBay.

My question is I have a item the highest value ive sold on the platform 275$ and someone bought it with an account that was made 12 months ago with 0 reviews. Obviously im worried of a potential fake account. Im adding for a signature to be needed and shipcover insurance and ill take a video of me packaging and sealing the item. What other precautions can I take to ensure this goes smoothly and not be taken advantage of.

We appreciate any and all feedback.

There really isn't much else you can do. Ship it with insurance and just wait til it gets to the destination. Here is the thing when selling items on Ebay or online in general there is always risks. It's how much are you willing to risk losing if something were to go bad. Most of the time things go as planned.

There really isn't any concept of a "fake account" on eBay; you're either paid or not paid, and no one can make a purchase without signing up with a guest account at minimum. eBay will tell you when the buyer's payment has been received and it's time to ship. You can buy the shipping label via eBay using the funds from the buyer's payment; you do not need to draw the label purchase from your bank account.

As others have already explained, a video means nothing (it shows nothing for provenance about what happened before recording started or after it stopped) and eBay does not view videos when deciding a claim. Signature Confirmation (SC) is not required by eBay for sales below $750 and your listing does not indicate that the buyer will have to sign for it. SC gives you nothing for that extra fee beyond what Delivery Confirmation gives you for free.

There is little that eBay can offer in the way of seller protection beyond Item Not Received disputes. The buyer can file a Not As Described dispute for any real or fictitious reasons that eBay will not attempt to verify, but at the same time you can at least require the buyer to return the item (your option) before a refund is issued.

Sell local for cash.

A video will be a waist of time, it wouldn't prove anything and no on e would even look at it.

Your description doesn't say a signature would be required, so it could cause more problems then help.

I wouldnt add sig confirmation without checking with the buyer first. Some buyers find that very annoying as they aren't home and have to go to the p.o. to pick the item up. Its really not necessary anyway,you are just as protected with a d/c pkg. And of course videos are useless as proof of anything, because they can be doctored, and Ebay wont even look at them.

You sold an item in a high risk category.

You sell items which are higher than normal risk.

The time to assess your risk is before you list.

Many sellers sell high risk items, and eventually they have to take a loss because there are fraudsters who are far more experienced than honest sellers.

Plan ahead.

Life is full of risks. A buyer who sees a feedback score in double digits may think they are taking a chance or they'll be like woo who it's a newbie.

The time to wonder about the buyer is before the item is listed.
The next time you list a pricey item, replay your current concerns and ask yourself if you really want to list it and have this scenario play out again.

There are savvy buyers out there that are gaming daily as well.

The signature is your best insurance.

Let the customer know that "FOR HIS PROTECTION" you are using signature and are insuring.

Of course, it's you that is being protected.

But your best protection is careful packaging and fast shipping.

Most people are honest and will be happy for your care.

The video is not useful, since in a Claim it would not be considered. You could make a video, then ship something entirely different for example.

I sold to many buyers with zero feedback without issues. Buyers using guest accounts also have no feedback.

Just because your buyer opened their account a year ago and decided today to make a purchase doesnâ€™t mean anything fishy going on.
If the buyer paid, you ship. Itâ€™s as simple as that.
Youâ€™d be wasting your time video taping packing the item, eBay doesnâ€™t look at pictures or video because they can be easily altered.
