Shipping Address Changed After Item was Already Shipped
I have a buyer that waited until the item was shipped, then they messaged me with a new address. The item was undeliverable, and it is on it's way back to me. If I pay for the shipping to the new address, I will pretty much not make a profit at all and actually pay out of pocket. How do I get the buyer to pay for the shipping to the new address?

You have been given very good advice by the responders here. Just one thing to remember for future "requests" to change a shipping address. ALWAYS make sure the person messaging you has the same ID as the buyer of record. There are occasions where 'imposters' will message the seller post sale with some (often a heart wrenching story) about why the shipping address needs to be changed. Though this usually happens BEFORE you ship, never do it. If you cancel the sale at that point you are cancelling on the "real buyer" who actually paid you.

·1 year agoNo you don't have to pay the shipping again. They will have to purchase it again. Also you only refund the item and not the wasted shipping. You can't change the address without losing your protection so even if you received their message before shipping, you would have had to cancel the sale. You would have selected problem with the address for the reason.

·1 year agoOnce you get it back you refund the purchase price, excluding shipping. Step two is to relist the item for the buyer.

Right now, just wait for the item to be returned to you. Do not refund until you have your item.
Since the buyer provided an incorrect address, you are not obligated to refund the shipping portion of the transaction. That decision is up to you. Keeping a current address on file with ebay is the buyer's responsibility.
You could offer the buyer a reserved listing (e.g. 24 hours) if they would like to repurchase the item with their updated address. Just bear in mind, they may be testy if you have withheld the shipping from the first transaction. Perhaps, share the shipping cost with the buyer?

The seller is probably feeling a little testy about the turn the situation has taken, the fault for which lies firmly in the buyer's lap.

·1 year agoExcellent suggestion on splitting the shipping cost if there is another purchase. Certainly not the seller’s fault - just good customer service.
