Shipped my items two weeks ago but...

Im using a ebay standard label and I shipped an item two weeks ago. In the ESU it still says "ship by July 1st"
Nothing ever updated, the tracking is not working at all.
How do I even know if it gets delivered? How do my funds get released with no tracking?

·1 month agoThe market for so many items just won’t support traditional shipping with tracking. It’s just the numbers thing – if tracking cost more than someone is gonna pay for an item you can’t use that and expect to have any sales. Some items need to be shipped ESE some need to be shipped in an envelope with stamps.

·1 month agoNot a big deal, but I disagree. It depends on what is being sold, what the market is for the item as well as how easy or hard the item is to find. I use to have a series of patterns that were inexpensive one at a time, but shipping was always more than the pattern. It didn't stop people from buying the item. The price of the item is not the only consideration when a seller is trying to decide what to sell and at what price.
But you are right as well because some times that are easier to find may not be well suited for selling on the internet because of shipping costs.

·1 month agoI gotta ask, is anyone really paying attention to this gentleman's question? he sold it. he sent it. actual delivery is in question as ebay tracking has not updated. how does he get paid if ebay isn't tracking?
I am a new seller. i HAVE tracking, and USPS has updated as delivered and ebay has yet to update its own system (after three days) of it being delivered and signed for. ebay has yet to release the hold on my funds. anyway, could someone please provide a legit and complete answer to his question? how does he get paid if ebay tracking fails to account for delivery?

·1 month agoPayment will occur after a certain number of days if there's no tracking. I just don't remember how many days... I think it's 30.

The OP used a method of shipping that does NOT have tracking. That is why their tracking has not updated. Nor will it ever.
As a new seller, on transactions like this you would wait a little longer for Ebay to clear the payment and transfer it to the seller's bank account, but it will come, it will just take a couple weeks longer.
As to your concern about your specific transaction. Your transaction was worth over $750 [the OP's was not], so you are required to have tracking, insurance and signature required upon delivery. That is not the same requirement for an inexpensive item like your other items you are selling.
As a new seller it is so darn important to know at least the BASIC rules of selling here BEFORE starting to sell. It would save much grief and likely help keep your blood pressure down. There are specific rules for new sellers. The link below may help you.
A brand-new private seller
New private sellers will typically receive their funds within 2 days after delivery confirmation (for items sent with an ebay label), 7 days after delivery confirmation (for items sent with a third-party label), or 31 days after the buyer pays (for items sent without tracking) while they build a consistent track record. Once they've qualified to receive their funds faster, they'll typically receive their funds within 2 days of the buyer’s payment.

·1 month agoI have shipped 10s of thousands of these. Most of them track fine, but some of them will seemingly just teleport to their destinations and never ever get a single scan. Never worry about these or contact the customer about them, particularly since you are selling Pokemon cards (high fraud item). Always assume it got delivered unless the customer makes a claim.
Most common reasons for not getting scans (if it is frequent), is packing the envelope too rigid, too thick or printing your thermal labels too lightly or at too high of a speed.
You don't need top loaders, they make the process worse (makes them not pick up scans, vanish more often, and sometimes show up postage due). Just use gaming sleeves. If you happen to have sports cards then put a sports card on either side of the card you sold inside the gaming sleeve and tape that off center in the envelope. If you only have gaming cards to use as filler then make sure the gaming sleeve has 5 cards stuffed in it, with the one they bought in the middle. Magic/Pokemon cards are much thinner than sports cards and have rounded corners so it takes twice as many of them to do the same job.

·1 month agoYou will get paid eventually. Just keep going. That paid on delivery thing eventually goes away.

I wouldn't message the buyer "Did you receive your item?".
That's why I don't use ESE.

OP1 month agoThe guy scanned it at the desk at usps and my item in the ESU still says it wasnt shipped. So it just doesnt work at all.

·1 month agono he didn't.....the tracking is read from the sorting machines, usually at the distribution center. unless of course your local post office has a sorting machine.

It was not scanned. Scanning only occurs on sorting machines.
It is highly likely that your item was not scanned because of how it was packed and the limitations of letter sorters.
I used ESE for a while, my results were problems with 25% of my shipments. The time wasted dealing with these issues made this service something I would avoid like the plague. I wish to choose how I waste my time, and dealing with ESE related problems is not a choice I make.

·1 month agoUnfortunately there has been a lot of complaints about Ebay standard label where tracking doesn't work. Honestly you may never know if whatever you sent gets delivered which is why you should use Ground Advantage. The USPS doesn't always scan which is why it's important to get tracking numbers scanned by the clerk so you know for a fact the item is in possession.

OP1 month agoI did give the letter with the ESU on there and he said there isnt tracking but just first class mail. Its been two weeks and the buyer isnt responding and my money is just in limbo. Seems like a bad system.

·1 month agoDon't worry about it until you hear from the buyer. The tracking system for that type of mail is very unreliable. I have mailed hundreds of cards over the years and they usually get delivered.
If he does contact you, refund him only when ebay tells you to do so. He will have to file Item Not Received case.
If you have to refund the money you can file to get your money back as long as you follow the instructions on ebay.

·1 month agoThis is terrible advice. You can't compete in standard envelope categories if you are using ground advantage, you are at a $4.75 price disadvantage on every single item.

·1 month agoMy advice was right on point. Doesn't matter if you can compete or not the question was how do you ever know if it gets delivered? The answer is you don't. If the OP wants a guaranteed tracking then they should go Ground Advantage and have a clerk scan it. Yes you are correct there is a disadvantage as in buyer pays higher price in shipping however there is more accurately with Ground Advantage.

You cannot succeed in a standard envelope category if you are forcing ground advantage shipping. No one will ever purchase your items. You simply have to learn how to pack correctly and print your labels in a manner that they will normally get scanned. Cards used to be my specialty and I shipped over 20,000 card orders on my old card store before I switched to other things.
Ultimately what ground advantage on cards does is throws away hundreds of dollars for every dollar it saves. I even used to regularly use it for cards that were technically worth more than $20 by pricing them at $20 and increasing the amount of money I charged for shipping. Now if you do this the insurance will still only cover you for $20, but that is infinitely preferred to wasting an extra $5 on every order in that $20-$30 value range. I didn't even start thinking about ground advantage until a card had a shipped value of $34.
The system actually works incredibly well once you know how to use it properly. All the complaints come from people in the initial learning curve and from stamp sellers who just can't stop themselves from using stamps on everything.
