Severe Winter Weather May Affect Deliveries
There is a severe winter storm expected through much of the country which may affect deliveries. Anticipated is large snow and ice accumulations. I hope EBAY is paying attention and offers a relaxing of shipping requirements. The DC/MD/VA area is predicted for 10-14" or more of snow which will shut down the area. Wondering if I should just take time away should the reports turn true?

·8 months agoeBay usually offers some protection or leeway for storms and other issues affecting large amounts of sellers, but for your sake I would agree that Time Away is best. When we had a hurricane coming through our area last year, we set Time Away for a few days before and after the expected arrival and just didn’t have to worry about what eBay would do.

OP8 months agoI really do not want to have go out and shovel snow! 😞

OP8 months agoThe consensus seems to be to just shut down for the time being. For all in the path of this storm please be safe and don't shovel all at once. I hope it turns out to be a dud!

·8 months agoI'd go with Time Away. Heck, I'm in Tennessee and just saw the latest local... 8"-17". 😮 And ours usually come with dang ice... weighing down power lines and leaving cars EVERYWHERE... so power and driving will be our issues.
Witness... Kroger was nearly out of milk, bread and eggs today. Does bad weather make people hungry for French Toast? 🤔

·8 months ago@mtgraves7984 Just the mention of French toast makes ME hungry for French toast. I think I know what breakfast is going to be tomorrow. Yum!

·8 months agoYep, 13" (so far) to come here......snow doesn't bother me.......but the chance of losing power terrifies me because temps are going to be so low afterwards......Time Away Fri........is in our plans.... I have no doubt Ebay will handle weather related stuff.......

·8 months agoIt would be wise to let your customers know that there may be a delay with their delivery & to please be patient, They appreciate a notice in advance just in case their orders do get delayed.

·8 months agoI'm shutting everything down till the middle of next week.
If we get a lot of ice, might be without electric so not taking any chances.

·8 months agoYes, it looks like this is going to impact a very large part of the country. Based on current forecasts, I'm planning on probably putting my store on time away on Friday night. We will be in for sustained below freezing temperatures here at least into early Feb, so it could be a while before things get back to normal. I'm also thinking of posting a banner on my store reminding buyers that items might take longer to arrive than ebay's estimates indicate.

·8 months agoI live in the Lake Michigan snowbelt so I know what can happen.
I would increase my shipping time and just monitor the weather. If the predictions are true then just take some time off.
Due to USPS issues and/ or weather, I adjusted my shipping time to 3 days to protect myself. I still ship items the next day.

·8 months agoJust posted a winter weather warning for MO, St. Louis and south 4-6", Ark-MO border 12"+ and up to an 1" of ice south of that. Gonna be a bad one, I had to up my handling time to 3 days anyway because I have a sub that doesn't want to scan my pick up
EDIT: just updated to 6-8" ugh
