Setting Buyer Requirements to require buyers to provide a payment method before they make an offer
Just an FYI to sellers that accept offers - I just noticed that my Buyer Requirements page has a new option to "Require buyers to provide a payment method before they make an offer." I don't remember seeing that before but helpfully eBay has already checked it for me. I know they've been working on this update for a while and I hope it reduces unpaid items for sellers that accept offers. Might be worth checking your buyer requirements to make sure it's checked. https://www.ebay.com/bmgt/buyerrequirements

·1 year agoThis requirement is for the birds and it doesn't work for combined shipping or pay in 4 option! It screws everything up requiring the seller to refund all the extra shipping that is charged automatically. It also keeps buyers from bidding on your items if you have the two bullets checked. No one wants to pay hundreds of dollars in shipping for dollar wins when they can all be combined for under twenty bucks. This is affecting sellers of small collectibles like sports cards and jewelry. Who wants to pay for and get twenty different packages for twenty sports cards bought individually for a buck??? Ridiculous!

·3 years agoI think that still applies only to sellers who are in the beta-testing phase of the "immediate payment required" (IPR) for offers feature at this point.
Seems like they've been testing this feature for a couple of years now, although it probably hasn't been that long. eBay has not communicated why it's taking so long--whether there are objections from buyers or sellers to the feature, for example.

OP3 years agoI guess that means I'm one of the lucky ones in the beta. I'm happy to have the option even though I very rarely allow offers and when I do, it was usually a mistake. Thanks.

Sorry to disappoint--I should have been more clear. Everyone has that entry on their Buyer Management options, but it's functional only for those in the beta-testing program. It even appears on my Buyer Management screen, and I'm posting with my buying account. 😊

·3 years agoI have accepted a couple offers where on the offer it states that IF I accept without countering the item is paid.
Usually takes a couple minutes once the offer is accepted before you get the Paid email.
It is nice knowing that if you accept its pretty much a done deal.
