Set up a Sale Event with Selected Inventory, Related email setup indicates "No Inventory" to display | Selling

I have created a sale event in the discount area for our store, which is currently active, and has been for almost 24 hours. When I attempt to set up an email to promote this active sale, and I get to the page that shows the item layout in the email, it is telling me there is no inventory selected to show. There is a list of inventory listings that I have defined as part of the sale event, and those sale items are showing the proper pricing and promo language on their individual pages, but the email setup does not see it. Has anybody else run into this? I really want to use the newsletter to promote this sale event, but thus far, it is not cooperating.
