Sensormatic anti-theft device removed, ebay said listing was removed: Encouraging illegal activity
The item I listed Item: 376110340513 Sensormatic IDA-1000-US-RS ( EU-RS) Work Surface Antenna for RFID Systems.
This item is part of a retail anti-theft system.
EBay said this item is not allowed to be sold on eBay, even though there are many of the same items listed.
In the removal message ebay said I listed a different item. The removal message said I listed a Sensormatic tag deactivator. Even if I did list a tag deactivator, it should not be removed because it is also part of an anti theft system.
I'm pretty sure a robot removed the item, but human beings and the appeals process should have corrected the problem. I'm posting to this article the original removal message from eBay, and the appeals decision.

What you need to do next
Items or information that might enable or encourage illegal activity are not allowed. Examples include:
- Blank rain checks- Information on how to use or make illegal drugs, bombs, or explosives

Because you may not have been aware of this policy, we're sending this notice to educate you about it.
These listings are still in your Active Listings folder in My eBay and Seller Hub so you can view them. However, new buyers can't purchase them, shoppers can't see them, and you will not be charged additional listing fees for them. You can end them to move them out of Active Listings.
Listings that don't follow this policy in the future will be removed. This determination was made by a customer service agent. This came to our attention because of a user report.

Everyone says this when they have a listing removed. You have to understand eBay is alive and fluid. From one second to the next listings come and go. It's like weeding a garden, as soon as you dig up a few a whole new patch appears in their place overnight.

·1 year agoAll this talk about the device is moot.
If ebay doesn't want you to sell it, don't sell it.
This is ebay's website, they make the rules.
Just like you make the rules at your house.

·1 year agoA tag deactivator is only part of an anti theft system when it is in the hands/control of the store that set that set the system up.
A device like that can also be used to defeat an anti theft system, and that is why they are not allowed to be sold on the secondary market.
I don't believe the removal was a mistake. The device was removed because it can allow or enable theft, by disabling or circumventing an anti theft system.

·1 year agoThat list isn’t exhaustive, it says “examples includeâ€. I guess eBay doesn’t want any part of shrink reduction equipment to be sold online which makes sense considering that’s where ill intentioned people would purchase such items to learn how to evade them.
That others are listed also doesn’t mean it was removed by mistake.

·1 year agoThis kind of sloppy enforcement was par for the course when humans were doing the enforcement.
There is no expertise at Ebay in any category and the words you choose in your listing may trigger an enforcement action. Other sellers choose words which do not trigger the action.
Now that you are flagged as a seller who has been warned, it would be dangerous to relist this item or list similar items.

My advice would be to NOT re-list the item, lest your account be penalized -- possibly severely.
This sort of sloppy enforcement is par for the course now that AI is running the joint.
