sending an item to a different address
a potential buyer in Canada would like me to send the item to a friend in the US.
"Thanks regarding the lower price! Now,m I am wondering, would you Accept a little less for this figurine? Being a Canadian, the final US price will be almost tripply in Canadian Funds, even though it would be going to my friend in the States ! I still have to pay the Exchange Rate, which adds alot as mentioned!"
Me: "please make sure the address you want is under your account information. We both lose protections if I enter a different address than the one in your account."
Him: "she is on my account ! sono problem there !"
Me: "How can she be on your account if you're in Canada and she's in the states?"
Him: " she is ! thats where U ship my stuff to ! When checking out, I just click on her address and then continue!Hope this has cleared things up!been doing this for at least 10yrs!been on here for 20 yrsHad this issue with a seller the other day ! she trusted me, and all was well andhave not heard back from her!"
It's for a low value item...does anyone see a problem here? I've never encountered this before. Thx

·8 months agoNext time someone tries to use the line about cost of shipping being so high as a way to get a discount, the best thing to do is let them know you understand and things are getting rough all over. You are faced with the same rise in cost of everything you buy too. Don't fall for the bleeding-heart routine. They don't give you a discount at the grocery store because you are a nice person either.

·8 months agoKeep in mind, though, that using eBay International Shipping can be a pretty pricey way of shipping items out of the country compared to some other options. I’m beginning to see listings where eIS’s share of the shipping charge is actually less than the seller’s charge to get the item to the Glendale Heights hub, at least for sales to Canada, and that doesn’t do wonders for the total shipping charge for the buyer.
I’m not surprised that an economy-minded buyer wanted the widget shipped to a friend in the US given what international shipping charges can be.

Buyers can have their orders shipped anywhere they want, they just change the shipping address when they check out.

·8 months agoAll your buyer is asking is if they can use their friend's US address which is one of the ones they have to choose from at Checkout. Quite frankly, they don't even need your permission for that but I guess as they've been trying to swing a deal with you, they figured it would be polite or good form to give you a heads-up on this.
All this stuff about the exchange rate, etc., isn't your concern. They're probably mentioning it to gain sympathy points or just to make conversation. Don't worry about that part.
Greetings from Vancouver Island, Canada.

·8 months agoYou opened a door with emails back and forth.
Buyer pays and you ship it to the address stated.
Should do one email...'I ship to the address as stated in the purchase.
I am not taking best offers at this time'.

·8 months agoYour buyer is trying to muddle the distinction between the sale price and the shipping cost. You charge what you want to charge for the item. The shipping cost is separate.
Her plan to have the item sent to a friend in the U.S. is fine; she just needs to provide that address with her payment, and then you're just doing a domestic (U.S.) shipment. How her friend is going to get the item to Canada doesn't matter.
If she wants to return the item, she will need to get it back to her friend in the U.S., since that is where your return label will originate from. (Yes, I know that the Money Back Guarantee isn't supposed to apply to forwarded items, but let's leave that discussion in the weeds for now.)

It sounds like the buyer either sent you an offer which you accepted or you sent out SIO (a seller initiated offer).
I don't recommend reducing the price further (unless that's something you'd do anyway).
The buyer's customs fees and exchange rate are theirs to deal with buying from sellers in other countries.
YOU are in business to make money and you're not a charity. Remember that.

·8 months agoNo issue, if the address they want it shipped to is the one shown on the order. A buyer can choose any address at checkout, which doesn't have to be in the same country where they are registered. The key for you is to never change the address shown to you by eBay on the order.
