Selling to New EBay Members
Hello everyone,
Does it ever make you nervous when you make a sale for an expensive item (~$400) to a buyer that literally just opened an account (that morning) to buy your item? Reading through this forum about “never receivedâ€, “item not in box†etc. Wonder what you do/would do? I have canceled a few orders in the past because the addresses were shady (without one peep further from the buyer). But want to know Iâ€m not alone in this situation?

I got 2 items with someone whoregistered Nov. as a new eBay member with no feedback.
Member is in the USA. I will take a photo of package and send a friendly reminder package is in the mail.

·2 years agoIt would only make me nervous if I were selling a highly scammed item like gaming electronics.

·2 years agoNew eBay members have been some of my best buyers ... some experienced buyers are PITAs as they feel entitled, some experienced buyers are far more likely to try to manipulate situations, experienced buyers are sometimes far more likely to leave feedback (including neutrals & negatives).
New buyers are less likely to contact you, complain to you, return items, leave any feedback (good or bad). New buyers don't know that "no returns" means they can still manipulate a return.
Now everything I just said may sound awful b/c it sounds like new buyers are more likely to get scammed (which is super true) ... but that's because new buyers don't know the system and that means new buyers are also less likely to scam you.

·2 years agoSo, I have gotten a lot of people with no feedback or very little feedback this month buying cheap items.
It looks like they are...hopefully...trying to build their feedback..
At least, that's what I hope.

·2 years agoConsidering what the item is plays alot into it. A 'Porsche Jacket' is NOT a high theft item, so as already stated by others, they found it one way or another and signed up to buy it.
Happens ALL the time here, and all the other venues on the planet as every person starts out somewhere/some time.

·2 years agoI have never listed anything that expensive, but yes, that would make me nervous. BUT, you have no choice. If they paid, you ship.

·2 years agoI think most who read the boards can get a bit nervous........but remember we DON'T hear the sales that go well......and we are in the business of selling. The old saw......if you can't stand the heat, get out of the kitchen.....always comes to my mind........ plus, depending on the item, I don't have that much invested in most items so my true loss would come no where close to the sale price........

·2 years agoConsidering the number of new members who may have found your item by googling (or binging or whatever) and signed up JUST to buy your item? No, not really.
A buyer with many FB may be MORE likely to try to scam you as they know their way around ebay.
