Selling smartphones
I am trying to sell a used smartphone. Each time I accept an offer the buyer has a problem with making the payment. Then I notice it's a new account with very little activity. I feel like there is a lot of scamming going on and decided not to try selling my used stuff here. Any comments on this subject are welcomed

·3 years agoAs others have mentioned cell phones are probably one of the most highly targeted items scammers look for in the ecommerce marketplace. If you are going to sell a cell phone regardless of whether it is online or locally copy down the IMEI number and retain it. If there are issues with the sale you can report the IMEI number to the blacklist and the phone will basically become unusable to the buyer. Of course you will still be out the phone.

·3 years agoLast year I sold an slightly used cell phone. Had to get rid of a 3G phone and get a 4G. Right after I got it I decided to change phone providers and got a new one from the new company. Then got rid of the first 4G phone. It was NOT a fancy one. Only asked $60.00 for it. Sale went perfect and no problems. Have not received a return request or any thing else.
Maybe you will be as lucky, maybe not. Best of luck to you.

·3 years ago"I'm having trouble paying" is usually a scammer who will then ask for your email address, paypal address, bank account number, etc.

·3 years agoYOU have NO selling history, listed a smartphone, and plenty of scammers licking their chops out there, like shoplifters stealing stuff left and right at the big box, brick and mortar stores. What can go sideways? EVERYTHING!
My advice, sell locally or perhaps find an EcoATM kiosk in a store near you / local area. Look for EcoATM, you can use the online locator to find a kiosk near you.
Don't let a scammer take your smartphone off your hands for FREE!

·3 years agoWell smartphones have long been one of he more problematic things to sell on Ebay with the category attracting scammers like flies to the dung heap, especially for the more desirable and expensive models. So one can sell used stuff just fine, but selling used smartphones should be reconsidered.

·3 years agoAlways been scams, but liken to shoplifting gone WILD to another level the past year or two, so has ONLINE SCAMMERS. NO consequences, short staff law enforcement to even investigate or WOKE DA refusing to prosecute any scam cases. Plus eBay's pro buyers, anti seller's culture, unfortunately, makes scamming, getting FREE stuff easy peasy for scammers, criminals to do so.
