I am the seller. I know that general merchandise sales have to pay a small percent of the selling price. My understanding is that motor vehicles DO NOT pay the selling percentage fee. Is this correct?

Your question is not a yes or no question. It depends on how you list it and what site you list it on.
As one example, if you list a vehicle on the US site and ask eBay to take a depositi from the buyer, you will pay a 2.8% fee on the deposit amount.
Again, I urge you to read the page that I posted earlier that explains the fees for selling a vehicle.
Selling an RV on eBay can attract several common scams that new sellers should watch for. One is the classic overpayment scam, where a buyer sends more than the agreed amount and asks the seller to refund the difference or pay a fake shipping company. Another involves fake emails claiming to be from eBay or an escrow service saying payment is “on hold†until the seller ships the RV—these messages are fraudulent, as eBay doesn’t use outside escrow for vehicles. Scammers may also claim to be overseas, deployed, or buying for a relative to push the seller into communicating outside eBay or rushing the deal.
Other risks include fake shipping‑company requests, attempts to collect VIN or title information for fraudulent listings, and chargeback scams where a buyer pays electronically, picks up the RV, and then reverses the payment. Phishing attempts are also common, with scammers sending messages that mimic eBay and ask the seller to verify their account or update payment details. Staying aware of these patterns helps new sellers avoid costly mistakes and keep the transaction safe.
eBay motors vehicle sales are not true auctions, so the buyer or the seller can walk away at anytime without penalty. So if it doesn't feel right, walk away.
A real buyer will come and inspect the RV in person, or hire someone to inspect it for them.

·9 months ago@moccassingaptradingco : I cannot think of any item for sale here that suddenly gets an "upcharge after the sale."
For clarity, can you please tell us whether you are the buyer or the seller? If you are the buyer, have you inspected the RV in person?
