selling OUT SIDE OF EBAY: SELLING ON OTHER AUCTION SITES
If you list an item on eBay and then list it on OTHER AUCTION SITES AT THE SAME TIME, you are SELLING that item OUT SIDE OF EBAY. That is AGAINST EBAY RULES. You can't list an item and then sell it out side of eBay.
If you want to sell on OTHER AUCTION SITES, than you have to list OTHER ITEMS.
MANY OF YOU are BREAKING EBAY RULES.
NO ITEM SHOULD BE UNAVAILABLE AT THE TIME OF SALE. You should have it IN STOCK when someone buys it.

·5 months agoEven if it were against the rules, there's no way for anyone but the seller to know if they sold an item on a different platform or if their grandbaby barfed on and thereby destroyed it or if they broke/damaged it while packing it.

·5 months agoWhen list on bonanza you have the option of importing your ebay listing directly from ebay, so you would be selling the same itemd inventory on another market place, if it wasnt within the rules ebay wouldnt allow bonanza access to the listings on ebay.

·5 months agoYou should indeed have the item in stock, however that doesn't mean you cannot list it on multiple sites. There are at least a dozen different software packages out there that can keep your ebay listings on multiple sites at once, ebay expressly gives this software access.
Like, I use crosslist.com (use code 1FOOT) for a discount. The only thing that software does is crosslist stuff from ebay to other websites and vise versa. Ebay had to examine their application in order to give them API access to do it. If that was against the rules then ebay would never have granted them access in the first place.
If you list on multiple websites it is your responsibility to pull listings down once they sell.
Cross listed items are not the primary cause of being out of stock. I have never had that happen to me, not even once. The overwhelming majority of out of stock issues come from items that either go missing or get damaged somehow.
If you sell enough items then eventually you will have something vanish off the face of the earth even if you have a great item location system. I lost a pair of shoes in box once. They still haven't shown up to this day. They didn't sell on another website, they just vanished somehow. I will probably find them 10 years from now when I move, as they didn't show up last time I did an inventory.
If you sell enough items then you will fumble finger something and break it somewhere in between getting the order and packing it up.
If you really want to lose some stuff, then go open a store with 10,000+ trading cards. Cards will 100 percent get lost, no matter how good your location system.

·5 months agoWhat in the heck are you talking about? We most certainly CAN cross list, and many of us are smart enough to know we SHOULD cross list.
What you can't do is advertise that your items are on another site or link your items to off-site platforms.
Who told you you can't cross-list??
You are correct that you can't leave up a listing for an item you no longer have in stock, but that's got nothing to do with whether you're allowed to list the same items on multiple sites.

·5 months agoI list plenty of items on Facebook Marketplace, Instagram, Craigslist and ebay at the same time. Nothing wrong with that as long as you keep up with your inventory as things sell, and not against ebay policy whatsoever

If a seller finds a buyer through an eBay listing who has no problem buying the item direct from the seller, then they are both violating eBay Policy. It basically means the seller is using eBay's worldwide advertising platform to sell something and then refusing to pay commission to eBay when the item sells.

The rest of your post is not correct, so long as you can meet this requirement.
Violations are punished, but this is not a violation of the selling outside of Ebay rule, and is not punished as violations of the selling outside of Ebay rule are punished.

·5 months agoSelling outside of Ebay means that a buyer contacts you through message and wants to make a better deal which avoids Ebay fees for the seller. When selling on another website that isn't considered selling outside of Ebay because you didn't find the buyer on Ebay at all. So your thoughts on selling outside of Ebay is incorrect.
