selling multiples
I want to sell replacement china. I have multiples of most items, say, six cups and five saucers of the same pattern. It appears I need a separate listing for each, cups and saucers. How to best set it up for a customer to buy multiple cups?

·4 months agoAgree to check the patterns in both actives and solds to see the price ranges, china is usually long tail, but can sell well over time.
In general, my somewhat limited experience..........
Dinner Plates, bowls, serving pieces sell the best.......cups/saucers/set of cup, saucer sell the least.
Problem with multiple choice or variation listings is figuring the right shipping. In those, you have to use a flat rate for the lst, and then figure what to use for "each additional".........
I list 2 or 4 like items. 2 dinner plates, 4 bowls, except for the serving pieces. I would do sets of cups and saucers...... and avoid buying them if I can. You want to "aim" for a good price point......if bowls are selling for $5 each.....go for the 4.......rather than 2 for a total of $10....

·4 months agoBefore I would put any effort into it, I would check carefully the "Sold" comps for your pattern. The buyer demographic for china is a rapidly fading group, which makes selling it very difficult. Even if you do find a buyer, the risks of breakage and shipping costs may change your mind. You might consider posting it on FB first to see how much interest you'll have before giving 20-25% away on this platform.

·4 months agoDoesn't your buyer pay shipping and handling, or do you make sure you're building that into the cost of the item in order to offer free shipping?

·4 months agoI would list a "set of four cups and saucers", then list a "single cup and saucer" separately, keeping the final cup as a spare.

·4 months agoMulti-quantity is simple, create the listing, enter the number of units available and in the shipping section include a rate for each additional unit (if you give a discount on multiples).
What might be even better, although more complicated would be a Variation Listing (not available in all Categories).
It's basically a multi-item version of a multi-quantity listing.

·4 months agoWhat I would do is just take a picture of the cup and where it says "quantity" just type in how many you have. Then in the description just note by saying "I have multiple available. You will receive one identical or say it is a stock photo." Just so buyers knows. If you don't do it this way your listing can get removed or blocked due to duplicate listings.

·4 months agoIf I were buying replacement pieces and wanted more than one, I’d start by looking at grouped sets or pairs. Since postage is already expensive, getting multiple pieces at once would likely lead to better sales results. Or run sales that buy one get one 50% off...
I sold some china last year by the set because I just wanted it gone...:)
