Selling Limits BS. I been on ebay for over 25 years, have over 500 feedback, 100% +, "Above Average" seller

I been on ebay for over 25 years, have 573 feedback, 100% positive, "Above Average" seller, let I am locked to selling 1 item, at $10 a month. I created a ticket for support and they raised it to 10 items, and $500.
I DO NOT understand why I am having these restrictions placed on me? I see other new members with 0 feedback, selling laptops for over $1600! What the hell guys?
Perhaps I should just create another account, go to 0 feedback, 0 days old, and yet ill have less restrictions. eBay has really gone to the dumps.

I can not list change or talk to a live agent for a week now!!!! just shutout 15+ years no neg. in a year and only a neutral 2 people said they would remove. during one 6 month period I spent $49,000 on collectibles warranting a call of congrats on ebay now I can not sell this stuff.

Unless you want to lose the cell phones & computers, along with your money.

·2 months agoIf you have not sold in a while, eBay will impose those limits. All sellers are subject to it. They will ease back off.

Your activity level over the past 12 months is not high enough to overcome the ever increasing trust and safety requirements on this site.
You will need to earn any further relaxation of restrictions.

·6 days agoSo not only does eBay provide a place for average people to buy and sell a few items now and then (the original idea), a seller also has to meet some quotas to get better/cheaper service from the company they helped to get started. Nice reward for working hard for 20 years, then taking a break for a year only to come back to 'so sorry, your CVT means nothing and you have to start all over again'.
I sincerely emphasize with eBay sellers who are treated this way.

·6 days agoOnline fraud is more frequent than in the past, accounts from great Ebayers fall into bad hands. Some are even purchased by criminals.
Reality is harsh and human interaction is not a part of the online model any more.
Although I also have empathy for these individuals, I understand the wisdom of the current restrictions and methods.

·2 months agoYes Ebay places limits on accounts which are inactive for a period of time which is years in your case. Your 25 years on Ebay and 573 feedback is treated the same way as everyone else.

·2 months agoDon't. You can read all the old posts you want, but commenting on a bunch of old ones is just cluttering up the forum and fragmenting any responses you get.

·2 months agoPerhaps it is just me, but I like it that these old posts can get a new perspective and some new life breathed into them. I always thought that the old boards shut down old posts when there was a new perspective or updated information put on them.

·2 months agoMaybe if it's the same OP updating the situation from months before, but that is rarely the case. Typically it's one of 3 other things:
1. Probably the most common: Newbie did a search, found an old post of someone who had the same problem they're having now, and rather than just read the replies to see what solutions were offered, adds a reply of "I'm having this too, can someone please help?" rather than start a fresh new thread of their own, or (again) just read the replies which very often GAVE the right advice.
2. Newbie who is angry about some eBay decision, finds old threads of previous angry people, replies to them to bump those posts to the top of the feed, making "the problem" look more endemic than it actually is. Basically what this^ poster did.
3. Bots replying to old threads for who-knows-what reasons.

·2 months agoI did something similar a few times on the old forum. I would jump in without looking at the date of the original post. A few of those 'old' posts were closed by the mods and a few of them were still open at the end.
Not sure what reasoning was used to decide close or leave open.

·2 months agoRight because someone else had bumped the posts up to the top, where you were used to new posts being. That's so frustrating.
As for the 'reasoning' if you mean the time span for a post to be considered 'old' -it was either 3 or 6 months, I can't remember for certain.

A limit of $10 indicates that you have either not sold in a while or some of your account information is out of date and needs to be made current. You may need to contact eBay customer service to find out what information you need to provide to get your account limit restored to a reasonable limit.
eBay is likely concerned about dormant selling accounts being hijacked and used for scams, so you may need to provide some proof that you are the original account holder rather than a hacker.

In a case like this does eBay contact the seller and explain the policy before the seller finds out the hard way? Trying to resolve an issue with 'Customer Service' can be very difficult for someone who hasn't been here for a few years.

·2 months agoThe account limits will be raised or removed if you don't have any issues with your account.
Creating a new account will have you facing even more restrictions, I wouldn't suggest it.
If you feel ebay has gone "to the dumps" then go sell elsewhere. Vote with your feet.
P.S. "Above average" doesn't mean much.
