Selling Fees Charged on Sales Tax
eBay charging a selling fee for collecting sales tax really sucks. Fees are already high. I do my best to sell on other sites first. eBay started off as a great seller's/buyer's tool. Now, not so much.

Have you just recently learned this?
eBay has been charging their Final Value Fees (FVFs) on the Total Amount Paid By The Buyer for many years. eBay has included the sales tax in that Total Amount Paid By The Buyer for as long as eBay has been required to collect the sales tax from buyers.
So, since that South Dakota v. Wayfair decision came down from the Supremes in June of 2018, I would guess eBay has been collecting sales taxes from buyers since around the beginning of 2019. So, like four years now.
Could it be that your total $470.01 in sales today (Sun., March 5, 2023) went to buyers in areas that have high sales taxes, say, to Los Angeles, California, where their rate is 10%. And you don't like eBay retaining a fee on that high sales tax percentage?
Imagine what the sales tax on those parts would be if they were delivered/shipped to states that also tax shipping costs, in addition to sales tax on the products. For example, Texas. Funny how they have the same letters: Texas = Taxes?
However, if you really, really believe eBay's fee structure sucks, and that is bad, you don't have to continue trying to sell on eBay.

·3 years agoOther sites are not charging a fee for processing the whole sale including sales tax? Paypal was. Unless you'd rather collect all those different state taxes yourself and distribute them to the proper state.
