Selling fee doesnt seem to match posted fees
I apparently don't understand selling fees. Per Help file I thought a non-store seller of camera would be charged 13.25% of selling price. It appears I was charged 18.8%. Sold camera for $225 + shipping $21.12. Fee was $38.92 + $21.12 shipping so netted $186.08.
Happy to have sold it but need to understand the fees better. Robo-chat was no help of course. How do I learn why fee is different?

·2 years agoSo I sold a book, didn't want to throw away a brand new book, Listed it for $1.99 , thought it might help someone. Buyer paid $5 shipping + tax, + tax on shipping! So buyer paid $8. Ebays fee is calculated on total also tax. I got 49 cents!!! EBay made $1.50 ==300% profit!!!

not knowing sometimes results in disappointment.

The other posters explained this well. However, if you 'paid to promote' your listing, there is yet an additional fee that is also calculated on the sold price, the shipping price the buyer paid, and sales tax the buyer paid at the % you selected if using the "general" program (previously known as promoted listing standard or PLS).
Then if you buy your shipping label on eBay, that amount is deducted as well.

Just a thought...you're listed in Florida and it's a big shipping port for 'freight forward' to another country.
If your buyer is from another country there is an additional International fee for when a buyer uses a credit card issued from another country plus the standard fee.

·2 years agoSelling fees are charged based on total amount buyer pays (item+ship+tax). You can find that info on the fees page here:
https://www.ebay.com/help/selling/fees-credits-invoices/selling-fees?id=4822
We charge one final value fee when your item sells, and you don't have to worry about third-party payment processing fees. This fee is calculated as a percentage of the total amount of the sale, plus a per order fee. For orders $10.00 or less the per order fee is $0.30, for orders over $10.00 the per order fee is $0.40.
The total amount of the sale includes the item price, any handling charges, any shipping costs collected from the buyer (some exceptions apply), sales tax, and any other applicable fees.
An order is defined as any number of items purchased by the same buyer at checkout with the same shipping method.
