SELLERS CAN CHANGE LISTING DETAILS AFTER PURCHASE...SO CLAIMS BUYER
Buyer purchased a NEW item from me in early December....Claimed it wasn't as described or shown. Had no choice but to take it back. It was returned USED. We're talking about a cooking pot.. I filed a complaint with Ebay and was turned down TWICE. NOW the buyer leaves a negative FEEDBACK and claims I listed a 12 QT pot but after she bought the 12 QT pot, I HAD THE ABILITY TO CHANGE THE LISTING TO AN 8 QT POT AFTER THE PURCHASE. I AM NOW OUT ABOUT $100 AND EBAY IS SHRUGGING THEIR SHOLDER.
27 YEARS SELLING ON EBAY AND NO RESPECT FROM EBAY!!!

·8 months agoIf you have a quantity listing it is possible to edit the listing to change the description or photos after a sale has occurred when there are more remaining available. The buyer is technically correct although I am not suggesting you did anything wrong. The description will also show a revision history to indicate what parts of the listing were changed and when that occurred.
I do this in my selling account when I have a BuyItNow listing where I have several units available of some particular used item. I make sure that they are all comparable in quality but as used units I know they are not going to be identical. I pick the worst one (relatively speaking) to be the first one shown in photos (and mention any flaws in the description ect.). When that one sells I swap in photos of the next (slightly better) one and update the description if needed.
The idea here is that if someone wants to buy more than one then the additional examples (unseen so far) will be even better than the one in the photos. I never have more than two or three available at any one time but this has worked fine for me.
I don't disagree that your buyer sounds like a nutcase and you did the best you could but they were correct (maybe accidentally) that in some cases you can change a listing after a purchase was made.

OP8 months agoDon't believe it can be done with a sold listing since this would create the opportunity for fraud.
From what Ebay told me.....that actual listing for that sold item is CAPTURED. Only unsold items can be changed

·8 months agoBecause a multi-quantity listing sells multiple times, it can be edited even if one or more have sold. However, from the buyer's Purchase History, they can still access the listing as it appeared at the time they bought it.

·8 months agoEbay is not here to give you respect.
They are here to give you a platform to buy and sell.
If you think this wouldn't have been a problem on another platform - then go sell on that platform instead. Spoiler alert, it's the same everywhere.
I've been here almost 27 years as well, sometimes things go sour with a transaction, and that's not ebay's fault. It's the fault of HUMANS.
Remember those iron-on patches from the 90s that said "Mean People Suck"? Yeah, that still holds true today.

·8 months agoUnder the money back guarantee, buyers can return items like this. It's unfortunate, and all sellers have had to deal with it at some point. If the buyer returned a used pot, hopefully you reported them. It might not do much good for you, but every time a buyer gets reported, it goes on their record, and eventually ebay will take notice.
However, I believe you can get that feedback removed because they state you changed the listing after it was purchased.
I would say "the buyer is raising an issue that was disclosed in the listing, and their feedback is saying I changed the listing after they bought it"
If that doesn't work, you could try to contact them via social media.

OP8 months agoHi,
I was able to get the negative feedback removed from this LUNATIC. Unfortunately the flawed policy of "Not as described" remains a sticking point and favors scammers and unethical buyers.
Thanks for your message!

·8 months agoThere always will be bad actors, unfortunately ebay has favored sellers in the past and it never takes long before the bad actors appear then as well (just from the seller's side)... There is absolutely no way ebay can prove who is telling the truth, and it never takes long (for whichever side stands to gain financially) to tell a fib. That is the sad reality, I've had it happen to me as well, I would probably list this buyer's userID on my "best buddies" list.
