SELLER SHIPPING POLICES
HELLO IM NEW TO THIS COMMUNITY AND JUST RECENTLY BEEN SELLING BUT MY SELLERS POLICIES CHANGED TO JUST WHAT I NORMALLY DO . ITS STUCK ON MY NORMAL FLAT RATE RANGE AND I LIKED THE OPTION OF CHOSEN THE EBAY DISCOUNT PAGE WERE IT AUTOMATICALLY SHOWS ME WHAT ALL MY RATES ARE GOING TO COST ME WITH DIFFERENT SERVICES AND I MUST HAVE DONE SOMETHING FROM MESSING AROUND JUST TRYING TO GET BACK TO THE OLD WAT SO ITS AUTOMATICALLY THERE? ANY IDEAS? THANK YOU FOR YOUR TIME

·2 years agoShipping cab be one of the more interesting items for a seller to navigate through given all the options between the carriers, package size and weight, seller and buyer location........... but it is becoming a more important factor in the face of constantly rising shipping costs and in some cases it may sway your buyers decision on who to buy from.
You may be new to this forum but you are a TRS and have been selling for quite some time and you have had 154 sales in the last 90 days. You use both free shipping and what appears to be calculated shipping on your listings and you are on the east coast, as am I, so your shipments have a wider cost variance due to the different zones. While I do not purchase my shipping labels through eBay I use a number of tools to determine how to ship and what options to offer.
First for free shipping which in reality doesn't exist somebody has to pay for the label. I seldom offer free shipping since I would have to factor in the worst possible case and bake that into my item price to avoid loosing profit on the sale. About the only time I utilize free shipping is when I know there is one and only one cheapest method to ship an item regardless of where the buyer is located. This usually involves items that can be shipped media mail or heavy items that can be shipped in a UPSP priority mail flat rate box or envelope. The down side to media mail is it does not have insurance. I recently sold a number of items that were 30+ pounds but I was able to ship the item in USPS flat rate envelopes or small-medium flat rate boxes.
For calculated shipping the link @mam98031 provided explains how to view and select different options. One thing to note as you are looking down through the options, while not on this example there is a break point where UPS ground becomes a cheaper option than USPS ground advantage. There are also cases where priority mail flat rate packing may be cheaper than the lowest USPS ground advantage cost.
