I received this e-mail from another Seller (or buyer) on one of my items:
"Wow this could sell more than $100, can I put this link on tablescape group?"
Is this a scam? I did not answer e-mail and blocked - does this person need to be reported to Ebay?

·4 months agoI agree with the others that he doesn't even need your permission to post a link to your item on some other group elsewhere. I'm not sure why he would even bother to ask, to be honest. I know when a listing of mine has been posted to a special-interest group when my view count or watcher count suddenly goes through the roof.

OP4 months agoThank you all for your responses - a lot of conflict some say good some say bad. For me, I think I made the right move - I'll keep my gambling in the casino and not on Ebay.

·4 months agoI’m sure hundreds, if not more, links to eBay items are shared daily in collector groups, on FB, Reddit, etc.
If I find an item I already have but know my collector friends, especially if it’s at a low price, would like, I share it. Sharing is caring.

Sounds like they want to use you as a dropshipper.
They'll list it on the other site and if it sells, they'll buy from you and have you ship it to their customer.

·4 months ago@kensgiftshop they (the wanna be asker) are listing the LINK; not the product.
So, anyone that is interested will see in ON ebay and then if they want it, they will BUY it from the listing on ebay.

·4 months agoThe way they wrote it, sounds like they want to sell the item on the other site for more.
They could also be an Ebay affiliate and place their affiliate link on the other site.

·4 months agoSomebody did a product review and informed me that they put the link to my eBay listing into their YouTube video. Five buyers purchased my item within 24 hours.
Another YouTuber messaged me that they were pleased with another product and did a product review. They did not include a link to my eBay listing in their video. Maybe some buyers searched eBay after watching the video.

·4 months agoWe get requests all the time from people asking to put links to our items on forums every week.
Free advertising and we make sales that way.

·4 months agoSomeone contacting me out of the blue offering to do me a big favor is a red flag. It smacks of a scam. Because... it's like more of a favor to them...
Good luck!

·4 months agoFeel free to advertise my eBay items anytime and anywhere, but all purchases will be completed through eBay.

·4 months agoone if the big issues is by having that link sent, they can install traffic cookies on you and collect data. Not sure if all bad, but it is just more garbage to sift through that you may not be aware of.

·4 months agoI think all the above responses are incorrect.
The person wants to put the LINK of your Ebay Listing on another site- there is NOTHING wrong with that.
They are NOT trying to get you to 'list it' on another site.
BIG difference.
If someone 'sees the listing and clicks the link' they will simply be taken to ebay.
Same as promoting (self) on Facebook etc.
I would tell them "sure" and I would not block them.

·4 months agoI had a potential buyer send a message to me in March to pls list the item on another site. I reported them immediately to ebay. They are still on the ebay, it doesn't appear anything happened.
Also the report links in your response take you to a report a buyer page but if they didn't make a purchase it doesn't appear you can report them from the links you included.

·4 months agoIf this is an unsolicited request, this is a scam. Change your eBay password immediately which may help to prevent this.
