seller on Time Away but order show as overdue
Summary: gadawgbooks shares frustration about receiving an order during their 'time away' on eBay, noting the order is marked overdue despite a correct shipping date. iamalwaysright explains that time away primarily notifies buyers but doesn't change handling time requirements. powell-collectibles adds that handling times do adjust but with certain exceptions. mam98031 suggests ways to contact eBay customer service and clarifies settings for time away. chapeau-noir mentions regularly using time away without issues, indicating variability in experiences.
I am a seller and received an Order placed 2 days after my Time away began (still on time away until 10/3/26)
email had correct shipping date yet eBay shows the order as overdue on my account
Of course I cant get a person to help with this & AI has no clue goes in circles and tells me to check my time away settings.
Is this a new issue with eBay when your on time away? This is NOT a new listing I learned the hard way awhile ago if you begin ANY listing during time away the Time Away does NOT apply to those orders.....
Really just venting, because of ANOTHER issue on eBay?!! I know no one can do anything about it
Thanks

·3 days agoI use time away on a regular basis and do not get warned about late shipment, though I don't use it for more than a week at a time (any longer and I just take everything down).

·3 days agoSometimes we assume we know what a screen says and don't really pay close enough attention to what Ebay is actually telling us. I certainly have fell victim to that many times.
When a seller sets Time Away, there are a couple DIFFERENT settings. You can hide all your listings for up to 30 days and no one can purchase from them. Or you can allow sales to happen and the estimated delivery dates will get extended, but sellers can only do this for up to 15 days.

·3 days agoAt the top and bottom of every page in Ebay are links to contact Customer Service.
There is not just one way to contact Ebay and there has always been multiple ways to get in touch with them. Because you don't know how to find the other ways to contact Ebay doesn't mean they don't exist. I hope you will save this information as it can come in handy from time to time. At the very bottom is a link in which you can request Ebay to call you.
Here are your options for contacting Ebay Customer Service. Please be aware that for social media CS, you send them a Private Message and briefly explain what your problem or issue is. Feel free to leave your Name, address, phone number and/or your email address in this message. It is private and secure and it may help to speed up the response for you.

Your options will be on the left. If you use the link below you can only get to the Automated Assistant or Chat box type AGENT or ask an Agent to call you, in the box and hit enter. You will then get more options. Not all options are available 24/7. It will depend on staffing available. So sometimes you can request a call back and sometimes you can't. Sometimes you have the Chat option available and other times it won't me. If it is important to you to use one of those options, just try back later.
If you use a cell phone or other mobile device, you may need to turn off your Spam filter so that Ebay can call you.
If you are a seller outside of the US or Canada, you will need to use the Chat Option.

From this link you can request Ebay to call you in the USA. The option is available when Staff is available to respond, so NOT 24/7/365.

·3 days agoI haven't done time away in ages, back when it was still called vacation mode or something. But to my understanding, all time away does is notify buyers that you will be away or unavailable for the designated time. It doesn't really do anything else. Buyers are free to purchase from you like normal. It does not adjust any handling time requirements. So while you may get dinged for a late shipping, hopefully your buyer will be patient as they should have seen your advertised time away notification.
Maybe someone else will come by and correct me if I'm wrong.

·3 days agoEffectively it does change your handling time. Your designated handling time will start when you come back from time away. There is a catch – if a purchase was made before you went on time away and paid for after it doesn’t. And if you send an offer before time away, and it is accepted after on time away, you also have to ship it out without that effective extension.

·3 days ago@iamalwaysright No, not exactly. There are options.
When scheduling your time away, keep in mind:
If you choose today's date, a message at the top of your listings letting buyers know you're on time away will display within minutes. It will take a few hours to update the estimated delivery date for your listings. If you chose Pause item sales, it will take a few hours for your listings to be hidden
If you choose a later date, your time away will begin at 12:01am on your scheduled start date and finish at 11:59pm on your scheduled end date
If you allow item sales, your time away can be up to 15 days
If you pause item sales, your time away can be up to 30 days
You should schedule your time away to start a day before your time off to accommodate any last day orders and end it a day later than your return date to process any pending orders
Allow item sales
When you allow item sales to continue while you're away, it's important to remember the following points:
Your listings will still be visible and buyers can still purchase your items
However, buyers will see a message at the top of your listings letting them know that you are on time away
Excluding the instances above in which delivery dates won't be updated, you don't need to make any manual changes to your handling time since the estimated delivery dates will also be automatically updated in the Shipping and Delivery section of your listings to ensure you do not need to ship items while you are away
Pause item sales
When you pause item sales, remember the following:
Fixed price listings will be hidden from search results and buyers won't be able to purchase your items
If a buyer previously added one of your items to their Watchlist or cart and tries to buy it while you're away, they won't be able to complete the purchase. They'll see a note stating that you're not processing orders until the time away end date
It can take a few hours for your fixed price listings to become hidden, so we recommend setting your time away in advance whenever possible
After time away ends it can take a couple of hours for your listings to re-appear in search results. Listings will re-appear automatically, you do not need to edit your listings
