I wonder when they'll announce the when and where of this year's eBay Open?

·1 year agoI checked out the marketing calendar.
Under each month is listed the holidays / events associated with that month.
These were glaringly ABSENT:
NO Martin Luther King Day
NO Black history month
NO Juneteenth
NO Pride month
NO Kwanzaa
If ebay wants marketing dollars for sellers, I recommend they include ALL sellers and ALL holidays or events.
Unless ebay is joining the rest of Silicon Valley in eliminating any reference to DEI.....!

·1 year ago@serendipity*sales for what it's worth, their 2024 trends calendar didn't include those holidays either:
https://www.ebayadvertising.com/en/2024/02/28/2024-marketing-trends-calendar-2/
And a quick look at any of eBay's corporate pages would show nothing has changed there either.
https://www.ebayinc.com/company/diversity-equity-inclusion/
And somewhat ironically, for at least some of those holidays, eBay's policies may actually make it difficult to list and promote some items that may be of interest for those who celebrate them because automated enforcement often casts a very wide net and doesn't always get things right.
Rather than any political statement, I'd say it's simply the case that since these calendars are put together by the ads team, they tend to focus on holidays which are more traditionally considered "retail moments" where specific types of inventory might see an increase in interest/sales.

·1 year agoThat's good to know. I couldn't find last years calendar.
Hopefully they will post the 2024 report soon.
Thanks for the info.

OP1 year agoHey @devon@ebay - what are the chances eBay will post a revision tomorrow and say Friday March 7th is an error? (They've done that in the past with seller events.)
These Check-Ins are usually on Thursdays which is why I'm hoping the inconvenient Friday date is an error.
I know I can watch the replay after the fact, but I like attending to see the Q&As which aren't part of the recorded event.
devon@ebay
Hey @wastingtime101! I just reached out and did confirm that Spring Seller Check-In is scheduled for Friday March 7th.
wastingtime101
OP1 year agoThat's disappointing - thank you for getting confirmation.

OP1 year agoReminder: this coming Monday, February 17th - Post offices closed for Presidents' Day

OP1 year agoFor anybody that missed it, the January Seller Update was released last week:
https://www.ebay.com/sellercenter/resources/seller-updates/2025-january
New fees go into effect next Friday, Feb 14th.
Hey @devon@ebay - I haven't seen anything about the Seller Check-In events - are they happening this year?

·1 year agoUM ... January 15, 2025 ---- (- Quarterly estimated tax deadline for Sept 1 - Dec 31, 2023. (Due to recent disasters, some states have extended relief deadlines.))
Shouldn't that read Sept 1 - Dec 31, 2024?
wastingtime101
OP1 year agoYes, it should. Thank you - copy/pasted from the calendar I posted last year and forgot to change the year. Unfortunately I can't edit the original post, but hopefully people will understand what it means.

·1 year agoGlad to see I got YOUR attention @wastingtime101 Too bad, apparently no response from @devon@ebay @kyle@ebay except a helpful from one, which I presumes means...........go away...
For those interested, this overwhelming attention from Wastingtime dates from this post:

wastingtime101
OP1 year agoIf they wanted you to go away they would not mark your post helpful. Marking your post helpful means they saw it and are taking your feedback under consideration. It's a response, just not the one you want.
Back to Seller Calendar - don't want to derail this with a discussion about what you do or don't like about the forum....
wastingtime101
OP1 year agoBumping this for you @dhbookds - reminder that post offices are closed tomorrow, Thurs, Jan 9!
Also we can't have @mr_lincoln heading to the post office when it's closed. He'd never do that. 😉

OP1 year agoReminder: If you're dealing with winter storms, make use of Time Away mode.
To set it from the app go to : My eBay > Settings > then find Time Away under the Selling section.
To set it from the web go to : https://www.ebay.com/vac/TimeAway
- If you have a store subscription the file path is Seller Hub > Store > Time Away
- If you don't have a store subscription you can find the link in the Selling Tools panel on the Seller Hub Overview page.
Here's the page about Time Away settings:
https://www.ebay.com/help/selling/selling-tools/time-away?id=5137
Read all the exclusions carefully because Time Away does not play well with offers or auctions!
Plan to have any auctions or offers end a week before you leave. Turn off auto-accept threshold for offers if you are allowing sales during Time Away, and turn off the automatically send offers feature if you are allowing sales during Time Away.
There's an option to set up an out of office auto-response within the Time Away settings.
Keep in mind you're still responsible for handling any return requests, claims or payment disputes that are filed while you're away.
