Sell Similar vs Relist....
I know this gets talked about a lot but now I'm completely confused. People used to promote Sell Similar because it gave the item a new listing # and posting date and supposedly pushed the item back up higher in the listings. However....if you do a "Relist"....the item still gets a new #....and a new date! AND...you lose all the viewer and watcher counts...just like a sell similar. So.........what is the difference??
I was mostly upset because I couldn't figure out why an item might receive an adequate number of views and maybe some watchers during a 30 day period but doesn't sell. Then you do a sell similar or relist...and that same item can SIT for weeks without any interaction. If it was interesting to buyers before...how could it then not be interesting the next time? So I had a support person just tell me that leaving the item to auto-relist is the best thing because the algorithm "recognizes" the engagement from the past 30 days and keeps the item in circulation...vs having to start all over from scratch. Also I've seen mention that if and when your item has appeared in google search..you just hurt yourself taking it down and having to wait for it to be picked up again. What's the consensus??
I think, if there are more than 2 or 3 watchers and a nice amount of views...then that's the only time I'd just let the item auto-renew. If after 30 days there's like 1 view...no watchers...that means something about the listing or price needs to be adjusted. It would be stupid to just let it renew again!

·1 year agoMy old items sell quite well not touching them.
My new listed items...they sell with 'repeat buyers' and 'watchers' usually first.
I did not do specific categories in my store like yours.
So usually in my store the first few rows of items for sale have been looked at from potential buyers in my 'store' and usually those items sell in a day or so I notice.
If the items do not change from the first rows....I am not getting lookers.
I think doing too many specifics on an item will make it less out there with the specifics...I kinda prefer a general title so it hits every potential buyer in a category that is not too specific.

The interest is weak, perhaps they have bought the item from another seller or perhaps that interest was fleeting and they decided to spend there money elsewhere (on or off eBay).
Personally I don't play the end and relist (or sell similar) game. I leave the listing up until the right buyer comes along.
You are selling woman's shoes, I imagine it's pretty common that what was interesting a 6:00pm is no longer interesting at 6:05pm.
Add on to that the fact you have no way on knowing why it was being watched in the first place.
