Seems that Ebay WILL NOT AUTHENTICATE shoes that don't have the original box
I've had a pair of Jordan 4's and a pair of Jordan 11's that were sold and Ebay "could not authenticate" them. I managed to talk with an actual human at Ebay and basically what I gathered from the conversation was that if the shoes don't have the original box they won't authenticate them because they may be replicas....? Well l thought that's why Ebay has "experts" that can tell the difference between real and fake shoes!!
I also had a pair of BRAND NEW Jordan 1's that were bought at TJ Maxx that weren't even sold yet I only had them listed and Ebay removed the listing as being "counterfeit"....??! I am beside myself! I feel so helpless.
This fiasco has now caused me to receive my first negative review on Ebay. I take pride in the items I list because I'm putting my name and reputation with the items plus I just don't do bunk fake merchandise, that's bad business. Which is what makes this even more infuriating because as far as the customer knows they think I'm actually trying to get one over on them.
If anyone else has gone through this and could share any advice I would greatly appreciate it.

·8 months agoIf pre-owned sneakers must have the original box to be authenticated, then they need to add that to their policy.
Be careful selling stuff from TJ's. I think their quality has plummeted lately. They are selling a lot of "made for TJ Maxx" type items. Not sure about sneakers.

OP8 months agoUnless Foot Locker and City Gear are selling replicas, not having the OG box is the only conclusion I can come to. To me though, the worst part is what this does to my reputation on Ebay. I received my first negative review because of this.

·8 months agoIt doesn't do anything. People want what they want and VERY FEW even KNOW what 'feedback' is.
Stop worrying about things you cannot control.

·8 months agoLooks like eBay removed the comment on your Neg, which is great.
99.2% is still very respectable.
If you want to get your percentage up fast, buy one book each from a few different large volume booksellers. Most booksellers are quick to leave FB when you purchase. If they don't, you can always ask for it.

OP8 months agoI keep forgetting that it's not just FB from sales that are calculated, but also from purchases. Thanks man

·8 months agoThat has changed so much over the years. At first they just checked if it was the real brand. Condition did not mean a thing. Buyers complained about getting items in poor condition. So then they looked at every thing. A creased hang tag or a split corner on a box lid was grounds to reject it. Too harsh? Now it's a turkey shoot as to what get accepted or rejected.

Hmm... could the problem have been that you advertised them 'with box', yet sent them without? 🤔
2soles_customs
OP8 months agoNope. They were listed as not having the original box and no pics of a shoe box were in the advertisement. Actually spoke with a human from Ebay today and by reading between the lines of what he was saying, I inferred that they just reject the shoes if they don't have the original box. Other than the "experts" having no clue what they're doing, that's the only conclusion I could think of because the shoes aren't fake, one pair was bought at City Gear and the other at Foot Locker. Never thought I would sell them so I didn't keep the boxes.
