If this is a new product with a brand that is not known to the public, I wouldn't think eBay would be a good place to launch it. Chances of anyone finding it on eBay would be pretty slim unless this a product that there are similar items out there which people would be looking for and happen to stumble across yours.
If you have a unique product that you invented and need to get the word out, I would think you need to contact trade shows and other places like that. Is it unique enough that you need to have patents on it? Any other protections to protect it from immediately being knocked off?
Bringing a new brand into the marketplace takes a lot of time and money and knowledge of how to do it. I don't know that eBay is the right place for that.
Your replies to this thread makes a great reason why a seller shouldn't try to sell your inventory. You are a new business. Then sell as a new business. Don't rely on other people to try to put there name and reputation on the line to help you sell. Actually it costs you even more doing consignment than just selling the stuff yourself which sounds like you don't have the time to do this anyway.
And for the record, I use to have a store in the mall, along with online stores. many of the items I'm looking to sell, are proprietary items I created/invented and had manufactured exclusively.

You could employ someone locally to sell on eBay using your account, as part of your new business.

In this case, I would recommend FBA ... ship it out, and they will handle all your logistics. And, you will retain much, much more profit per sale.
@1-moore : Am curious as to why you would not just sell them yourself? It is not difficult to set up your account for selling and you already know of this group to answer any questions you may have.

@itsjustasprain my guess is that this increase of people wanting to consign (not all) is laziness or stolen items, they don't want to put the work in, and don't realize most ebay sellers feel the same way, lots of work for the ebay seller with little if any benefit and possible detriments, no work for the consignor who gets the benefits
You probably wont find any takers in here, what with irs taxes, returns,or bad feedback,or even funds being held. Most sellers are not willing to put their accounts at risk.
