Scammed
Well it looks like I was scammed by this address.
I only googled the address as it seemed it was bouncing around the east coast on tracking, as well as the buyer messaged me asking for the unlock pin on the day it was supposed to be delivered, but was just hanging out in a distro center on tracking.
The buyer didnt respond for days, then started making accusations that the item was not as described.....but the tracking still showed it was at the regional distro center.
Then I found that this address was a noted fraud site for over 10 years.
The buyer has opened a item not received claim against me.
It looks as though I have no way to actually respond to the claim, and have to wait for ebay to make a decision in a few days.
any suggestion on how to reach out to ebay and let them know about the address?

Okay- about foreign banks- eBay (Managed Payments and previously Paypal) do charge for international payments, but the fee is quite small.
There is a fixed service charge and if the purchase price is low, it can be a significant percentage. Two different ways of looking at the same transaction.
Most international purchases will be by credit card, and some of the costs will be currency exchange.

·6 months agoUntil the customer opens an actual formal CLAIM with eBay, you are fine.
If the tracking shows that the item has been delivered to the US address, you are fine against an Item Not Received (INR) claim.
If the buyer makes a Not As Described (NAD) claim, you can tell them to return it for refund. Note that you would be providing return shipping.
If the buyer does not return the NAD item, you are not required to refund.

OP6 months agowell it seems as though they are gearing up for an item not as described claim, and Ill more than likely get an empty box back
as they have sent me several messages claiming I stated the item was "new", yet I listed the item condition as "used" from the menu on ebay, and stated it was used in my personal discription.

I'm seeing 'Open box' on the listing... not 'Used', and described as an insurance replacement with no reference to condition.

OP6 months agoI dont know how to attach photos, but I selected used, when ebay asked. It was a insurance replacement, and unused except to show it powered on and worked. How else could I have described it better? its obvious in the picture it is not in a apple box, nor sealed?

OP6 months agono out of the 3 listing I've had, that's the only one that seems normal, although its been all over the place with shipping as well, but the buyer communicates and is understanding.
The first item I tried selling, the buyer wanted to pay from a foreign bank, and eBay wanted to charge me a significant fee to accept it, so I wont be accepting payments from a foreign bank
I was told eBay was easier to sell on then market place, but it doesnt look that way

·6 months agoNot sure how you think you could control that. There is no setting that I'm aware of where sellers can pre-determine which payments they'll accept or not. That is eBay's decision. You don't know if you were charged a foreign buyer fee until after you have already had it deducted from a sale.
As for selling here vs. Marketplace, here's a question for you: what kinds of items do you have available to list? If it's more electronics, you're going to be at higher risk of scams no matter where you sell them, unless you do in-person cash only. But if you have other categories of items, eBay is a great place to get a huge amount of buyer reach.

·6 months agoI wanted to finish reading to see if anyone else noticed that before bringing it up.
@kspr95 As a brand new seller of items in a high-fraud category, your listings of an iPhone and 2 iPads made you a magnet for scammers. (This is NOT to imply that you have been scammed YET because we don't know.)
But if you shipped to a freight forwarder, once tracking shows delivery, you will be protected against INR (item not received).
If the buyer claims NAD (not as described), buyers of items shipped to third parties lose their MBG (money back guarantee) protection. And if they claim they are located at that delivery location, a return has to be shipped from that location.
I think you are jumping the gun at this point. There isn't tracking showing delivery and no claims have been opened. (I'm gathering that the buyer is contacting you through messages and not through a dispute.)

OP6 months agothe did file a claim of not getting the item, but tracking still shows it in route.
the not as described....he is claiming in a message that I said it was new, yet I listed it as used, and also in description stated it was used, and the pictures show this as well.
I didn't screen capture it, but in his first message to me he was asking to make sure it was properly packaged, but there was some not from Ebay, that has since disappeared in the chain, but it said that they had informed the buyer they could not cancel the auction
something tells me English is not their first language.

I print out my label, ship the package out and i'm done.
If a problem arises later, i'll deal with it.

·6 months agoScams happen and Ebay has incentive to side with the scammers. It's a Global Company that hires people who are against Americans & the American Way. What can you do, they will always envy and hate us.
Customer Service just sided with my Scammer from Thailand. I'm lucky it was only 8 bucks. Ah well, what can you do. Ebay has all the Evidence in the world that he's not legitimate yet they still sided with him.

as well as a company that is willing to take your money, and could careless that you are out money and the item.

·6 months agoWith the rash of needs for third-party logistics companies, it would not surprise me for some entreneure to use a Public Storage as an address.
Maybe a scam, maybe not.
I would be blissfully ignorant if this was my order.

Although your text is a bit confusing, I'll give it a shot.

I think you'll find that it's a legit freight forwarder.
- The buyer has not opened a item not received claim against me.

If the buyer has not opened an INR, you don't have a claim to respond to. eBay won't step in until a few days after a claim.

There's hardly ever a reason to reach out to eBay. No worries on your part, you shipped to the address on the Order.

·6 months agoIdk I have a Freight Forwarder who buys a lot of my items and never had an Issue but if i saw a shipping address on an order that is addressed to a Public Storage it would be a Full Stop for me.

OP6 months agothe address contains some sort of code for the freight fowarder, USPS confirmed this.
also, I tried calling the number that the buyer supplied, its not in service.
and to add insult to injure, they are now claiming the iPad is not as described.......and according to tracking its not delivered yet

OP6 months agowhen I googled the address, the first few hits came back to ebay and scam posts. Then the reviews of the freight forwarding company had multiple scam reports going back ten years.

·6 months agoWhen you say "claiming" -do you mean they filed an INAD return (after they already filed an INR) ... or are they just writing you private messages saying it's not as described?

·6 months agoAre you entirely certain that this address is not a completely legitimate freight forwarder?
Freight forwarders are used by international buyers in order to make purchases from sellers who don't ship internationally.
They're usually located in states like Oregon and Delaware because these states do not have a state sales tax.
All the seller needs to do is ship the item to that address after he has been paid. Once it arrives, the FF takes over from there. If there is an issue after that, the problem belongs to the freight forwarder, not the seller.

I will ship internationally but I still get buyers using freight forwarders. They prefer using freight forwarders because they save a lot on shipping.

OP6 months agoIf you google the address, it comes up with tons of hits, on do not ship to it, as they will file that they did not receive the item......which they have done.

·6 months agoEvidence that any of those reports online are actually truthful, though, and freight forwarders typically handle thousands if not tens of thousand items in a year, so hundreds of reports of problem would be a tiny fraction of the total order shipped to them. There is no reason for you to ever Google an address, either it is valid and you can print the label, or it is not and then you can cancel for problem with buyers address.
