Scam return.
I just received a return that I accepted, I have posted that I do not accept returns, & this is the exact reason I do that, This person had a problem with the item, But they never even opened the package, It is exactly how I shipped it, They just slapped the return label over mine, All they wanted was to sucker me into giving it up for free or at a discount & I didn't take the bait, I do accept returns I just don't post it,Then people like this are taken by surprise when I accept the return, Too many scammers out there.

·5 months agoKnock on wood but I have yet to experience any of this so far. All my sales have gone great except for a few that which I later found out were mistakes of my own doing. All the buyers from those mistakes were understanding and still gave me great feedback. I'm just glad that if one of these "Scammers" latch onto me I can come here for help and guidance. It's much appreciated. 👏

·5 months agoI wouldn't call it a scam, if you got your item back.
If they shipped back an empty box, that would be a scam.

·5 months agoI am also a no returns seller and agree with you totally. Half my INAD return people never even send the thing back (you seem to sell mostly new, so you probably don't get many of those). I also think the only people who look at return policies are people who tend to return things.

I tend to agree with you on that.
The only time I've ever thought to look at a listing's return policy is when it's clothing with no measurements.

·5 months agoSince you can withhold the original shipping cost with remorse returns, the buyer will be splitting the cost of their scam shenanigans, though - right?

OP5 months agoI hope I can withhold that portion at least.

·5 months agoDid you give feedback before the return?
Some buyers only want feedback and will go out of their way to get it.

OP5 months agoNo I haven't sent any feedback.

·5 months agoLooks like the problem they were having with the item was they no longer wanted it. Still it's better to get it back unopened than damaged. More wally mart shippers. One thing about that, if you do not say you take returns some buyers will just leave a NEG thinking you won't help.

·5 months agoExactly true. I had a lady last month or so open a return for some art deco knobs. I gladly accepted the return especially since another buyer wanted 8 more. She messaged me irate because I wouldn't refund her and let her keep the knobs. She said it wasn't fair and she'd read on Reddit sellers on eBay always give refunds without requiring returns. I said I'm sorry you don't like the knobs and will gladly refund once you return them. She declined, saying she had already installed them on a dresser and sold the dresser so she couldn't return them but was just asking for her money back. Repeated above. She responded she was very disappointed I wouldn't help a small businesswoman. Well ok, you're disappointed so just return the knobs. And how disappointed could you be when you sold the piece you installed the knobs on to?

I'd like to say unbelievable, but nowadays it's very believable.

·5 months agoCould just be buyer's remorse. This board is quick to label everything a scam.

While it could be a buyer's remorse return, the seller not having a return option set (no returns) voids the option of being able to return an item for remorse reasons.
So they are effectively using the doesn't match photos or description (otherwise called INAD which is outdated) and we know they didn't even open the package to check. So. Fraudulent return. Pretty cut and dry as it were.
@linus.hux72fe
Yeah, that sounds pretty blatent. I would have probably reported that buyer as well. But I would have done the same exact thing. Asked for it to be returned, generated shipping label and let them decide what to do next. Hopefully they didn't send you a box of rocks.

You can report the buyer for a fraudulent return as well.

OP5 months agoI did do that, But I think I'm still stuck giving the refund, Because if I don't Ebay will stick me.

·5 months agoWhat did this buyer use as his reason for wanting to return?
You are a very experienced eBayer, so I won't insult you by pointing out that, if a buyer claims NAD, you DO accept returns.
meme6253
OP5 months agoThat's exactly what the scam is, They claimed NAD & never even opened the package, I thought I made that clear.

·5 months agoI think what she means is ... it's not a "scam" if the buyer gains nothing.
