Am I the only seller who got a message about this? Why can't I find any discussion about this coupon campaign?
I wouldn't have even thought I was eligible since I don't have an eBay "store" (just a few listings that sell VEEEEEEEEEEEERRRRRRRRYYY slowly), but eBay sent me a contract to review. I didn't copy the text, and I can't look at it again now that I've declined it, so this is just paraphrasing - not verbatim.
Anyway - my point is: the first message/email I got about this said that eBay would pay me the 10% discount that they're going to offer on participating items so I'd end up getting full price. But the contract says that I pay eBay, and the details say that eBay is only covering $75 max for 4 coupon uses per buyer, and that eBay then pays 70% of that discount, meaning I'm out 30% of the discount (which should be 3% of the selling price). It also says something about me covering 100% of any other coupon use, with no explanation how there could be "other" uses. So I declined the contract, but I'm curious if anyone else signed up and how you understand what's gonna happen.

OP1 week agoShockingly, I just got a call from an eBay rep who was clearly US-based, and who expressed genuine interest & concern about this issue. This is the first time in 20+years that eBay has initiated contact with me to address a problem or concern of mine. It's also the first time I've been invited to join one of these campaigns, which isn't really surprising since I didn't start selling until a few years ago. And I don't have the profit margin or gross sales to participate - I'd only lose money.
Anyway, we talked for a half hour about various issues (though I forgot a couple) including AI as CSR, the automatic assumption that a buyer is honest & right, and shipping problems. Maybe it'll have some subtle effect...

·1 week agoThat has been the terms for the eBay motors coupon campaigns for all the ones I've received.
You receive the full item price as if no coupon is used and then after you are sent an invoice for your 30% after the campaign ends.
"When a qualifying Coupon recipient redeems a Coupon for the purchase of an Eligible Item, the Seller will receive payment for the Eligible Item equal to the non-discounted price of the Eligible Item as if no Coupon were used for the purchase.
At the end of the Promotion Period, eBay will then invoice Seller for the total Seller Funded Amount for all the Coupons that were redeemed. Seller will be invoiced for the total Seller Funded Amount for their portion of coupon funding of all eligible sales for up to ninety (90) days after the end of the Promotion Period."
