Return Switcharoo Fraud - Scam Buyers always win (In all my experiences)
Sold an item. Buyer claim it was defective. I provided a return label. Return package arrived with a wooden brick inside instead of the original item. I uploaded images of what the buyer returned to the return page and I opened a case. I got a message from ebay rep saying not to issue refund. A couple days later, the case was closed in buyers favor. Because, according to ebay "We received tracking information from the buyer that shows successful delivery to your return address." YUP, I paid return shipping only to receive a useless wood in the mail in place of my item. And apparently, ebay doesn't care that I receive a wood back. They only care that the wood was delivered to me. Imagine how many items you can get for free using this ebay trick.
Sad to say this is not the first time this had happen to me. The first time I received half the selling price FROM EBAY (NOT THE SCAMMER) and was told "That is the cost of doing business". So ebay will rather compensate sellers from their own coffers than challenge these bad faith buyers or their charge-backs (If they are lucky). Or find a way and make sellers take the brunt of these crooks. Then there were other times not worth mentioning. I was hoping that this time, only this time, someone will actually take a look at the issue for what it is; Fraud.

·2 years agoThis kind of thing is on the rise . I also have had the exact same thing happen . I have a friend who also sells here and has has an incline of these kind of returns. We are betting it is spreading on social media how easy it it to do this here on eBay . Some form of ebay intervention and new policy is definitely needed nip this in the bud .

·2 years agoEBAY IS KNOWINGLY, WILLINGLY & OBVIOUSLY WORKING WITH SCAMMERS
Even though we had all pics/info required, they still lied to us regarding this CLEAR Switcharoo Scam. Ebay is knowingly, willing & OBVIOUSLY working with the scammers. Even though they gave us a partial refund, along with acknowledgement that we were scammed.........somehow, we're still subject to negative feedback over it: EBAY IS KNOWINGLY, WILLINGLY & OBVIOUSLY WORKING WITH SCAMMERS. Because apparently, after a certain dollar amount ($159 is apparently, after 15yrs, too much in our case!), Ebay is no longer willing to fund claims no matter how long we've been selling on thier platform & no matter how much money we've made for them. EBAY IS KNOWINGLY, WILLINGLY & OBVIOUSLY WORKING WITH SCAMMERS.......it doesn't matter whether or not Ebay knows it's a scam: THEY WILL STILL ALLOW IT REGARDLESS. They are knowing participants in the scam as a result. According to Ebay's own customer service reps: After a certain dollar amount paid for disputes and no matter whether or not you have all back-up required, YOU ARE STILL JUST A SITTING DUCK. KNOW THIS. Ebay does not care about sellers, no matter how many advertisements claim so......NO MATTER WHAT: YOU ARE SUBJECT TO SCAMMERS & EBAY IS KNOWINGLY HELPING THEM.
