Retired? Selling? EBay wants to see your Tax Return
I'm retired and selling stuff to clean up on ebay. All of a sudden my account is restricted! Funds are being held! After multiple phone calls and sending info, drivers license, water bill, social security statement (with name address and social) it's still locked! After a chat, I asked what specific info was needed? they want our full tax return to 'meet their compliance' ! REALLY?

·2 years agoJust curious as to what phone number you are using. Did you Google it? Or did you get it through the ebay website? If you googled the number, you might be talking to scammers who want your personal information.

·2 years agoOP! ebay has no right to see or get any SSA monthly payments records . Odd they are even asking you for it.

·2 years agoYour tax return is NONE of eBay's business and they do not need it to meet any current laws on the books. Follow others advice below and contact eBay through social media. Their front line customer support is useless.

That would have been my course of action also. I diversified across multiple platforms long ago not only for contingency planning but being somewhat forced to. EBay used to account for about 90+% of my sales but due to an ever expanding list of prohibited and restricted items and the VERO program I simply had to find other alternatives. EBay now only accounts for a bit less than 20% of my sales and that number continues to slide.

·2 years agoReally Gotts to wonder who's and where's? Has access to our accounts and info.
Might turn temu tragedies.

·2 years agoEbay does not need your tax return! Do not give it to them! If you are actually talking on the phone to agents, they do not give the correct info. Follow the advice given in your previous posts and contact ebay on Facebook.

·2 years agoI have read several of your posts. Have you signed up for Managed Payments? This is required to be a seller. You must provide a checking account number, routing number, and sometimes a photo of your ID. Sellers no longer get paid through PayPal.

OP2 years agopaypal has nothing to do with this.

This is your third post about this problem, and it does not appear to be getting any better for you. Did you ever follow the advice you were given previously and contact eBay through one of their social media portals INSTEAD OF dealing with the regular customer service you get in a call back or chat?
