Restoring eBay Account Reputation After Management Change
Summary: boxitmailit is seeking advice on restoring their eBay account reputation after their virtual assistant listed problematic products from China, affecting their account standing. Several participants suggested different approaches, including ensuring more control over inventory by only listing products they possess, accurately describing items, and responding promptly to disputes. onlinecentral mentioned the importance of understanding eBay's terminology regarding account limitations or suspensions, while others highlighted the risks of dropshipping and recommended improving compliance and customer service to rebuild reputation.
Hi everyone,
I'm reaching out to get your thoughts and advice on a challenge I'm currently facing with my eBay account. I recently discovered that my VA was listing products from China and had issues with late shipping, which unfortunately impacted my account's standing.
I've since removed all the products and made staffing changes, but I'm looking for strategies to restore my account's reputation and get back in good standing with eBay.
Has anyone here experienced a similar situation? What steps did you take to improve your account status? What are some effective ways to ensure compliance and boost your customer ratings after such an incident?
Thanks in advance for any advice you can share!

Describe them accurately
Ship them quicky with tracking
Respond to returns and disputes promptly
Sell more items to dilute the existing issues - even if you make no profit
Your issues arose because the items you were listing were not under your control at all times. If you want to ensure compliance, you need to control all aspects of your business.

In looking at your listings, it appears you're still dropshipping and predict that you'll be seeing a permanent restriction on your account.

·2 weeks agoHave you even looked at your own listings? It's CARBON COPY pics and descriptions from other dropshippers selling random stuff from Asia. Buyers are complaining that your personal care items could actually hurt them. Wow, man...

·2 weeks agoBased on the info you provided, it sounds like you are drop shipping. I know of no way to be in control at all times when drop shipping. In many buyers eyes, drop shipping has very little credibility or sustainability. A reputation takes time, and the longer you operate this way, the more time you give the inevitable mistakes to happen...its a catch-22.
You want to salvage a reputation... sell & ship only what you have in your possession

A: No, I don't use a virtual assistant. A human being (myself) conducts all of my business.

·2 weeks agoIf the message from eBay used the word Limitation, you can eventually recover if you do not get any more defects on your Seller Metrics page.
If the message from eBay used the word Suspension, that is permanent with no way to appeal or recover, ever. If that is the case, I am sorry for your loss.
