Restocked Listings Should Preserve Sales History and Ranking
Hello eBay Team,
I would like to report an issue that is negatively affecting my business and product performance on eBay.
When one of my products sells out, the listing becomes paused. After I manufacture new units and replenish the stock, republishing the item causes eBay to treat it as a completely new listing.
As a result, I lose:
all listing views and watch history
items saved in customers' carts
sales history (“items sold” count)
accumulated product credibility and ranking
This is very harmful because my products are handmade/manufactured in batches. When all units sell out, I simply need time to produce more inventory. However, even after replenishing stock, the listing loses all its previous performance and reputation.
This creates a situation where successful products are penalized for selling well.
I believe listings should preserve their sales history, engagement data, and customer cart associations after stock replenishment, instead of being reset as new listings.
I hope this feedback can help improve the seller experience for small manufacturers and custom product sellers.
Thank you.

·4 months agoDon't know if you could call this an "eBay team" exactly. These forums are composed of fellow eBay buyers and sellers who volunteer their time here to help others or offer suggestions. We aren't eBay employees, need to make that clear.
Also, have a question for you: When I click on your posting ID here, because I wanted to see what you sell, it shows me neither current listings, sold listings or FB and I see that you sell under another ID evidently. There's nothing wrong with that, of course, just pointing it out.

Use the Out Of Stock option and it'll solve your problem.
I think I'd be more worried about using all those brand names..

·4 months agoIf you have the OOS (out of stock) option turned on, it saves your sales history.
If not, when you re-list it starts fresh and makes a whole new listing.

·4 months agoDo you have the Out of Stock option selected here? https://www.ebay.com/uas/selling-pref
I use the Out of Stock option and have never experienced what you are describing. Out of stock listings stay active, but hidden from buyers, for up to 180 days to allow time for restocking. The listings retain the sales history and original item number.

OP4 months agoI found that option and enabled it.
Thanks for the tip.
