Requesting Relist fees after 1 months of failed sales
Hear me out
.
I am seeing a extremely large price tag on items that should not be nearly that high priced.
I see junk that people pulled out the ditch, still dirty for hundreds. I don't wanna hear about what someone willing to pay. Most people , and I'm taking 99.99999% won't pay a dime for this junk. May I say even 100% won't do it cause I see this stuff getting relisted for long periods..
I see these items get relisted for very long periods. Things that should cost 50$ or actually 1000$ . I can easily put item numbers but I won't.
The fact that people can easily relist for free forever is incitive for this behavior.
It's appalling..
I propose a relist fee. After a month or so of no sale on the same item ( not sure how eBay would track it cause they would just create a new listing instead of hitting relist button) I request eBay to start charging people to relist. The relist price is tiered and gets higher each week it doesn't sale . Yes this is like the shipping price scam everyone was doing years ago. eBay supposedly fixed that but now we see this problem ..
Please eBay. Fix this.
Once you figure out how to fix this problem I'm sure people will start to shop here more.
As of now people are really stunned and shocked and running away at the site of these dumb prices.
What's everyone's ideas? Seriously.

·1 year agoI’m coming late to the party; this reply is both about this thread, plus your post on 8/30.
First , this one. Some of my items end up being listed for months. My items tend to only be interesting to certain buyers, as they’re very much unusual things (although right now I only have my towels listed). Items being on for awhile doesn’t cause me to raise my prices, but if I was having to pay for relists, I would be forced to raise my prices.
Second, on your more recent post; I can tell you of another company that I know for a fact charges their fees just like eBay does. I’ve been going to some craft shows for about 4 years, and I had a brick & mortar store until the end of June. I used Square to accept debit/credit cards. Square charged their fees on the total I collected from the buyer. My best friend still has a B & M shop next to mine. She discounts for people paying in cash, because she’s not having to lose money on the fees (including for tax) that Square charges.

·2 years agoI swear I recently read the same complaint by someone on Reddit, complaining about items/sellers/prices on Facebook Marketplace.
It sounded then, like now, like the person wanted the sellers to actually pay the buyer for doing them the favor of taking something off their hands and pay for shipping or hand deliver it for free too.
Temu exists and so does Amazon. Brand new, fresh off the ship from China and cheaply priced as well as cheaply made. Enjoy!

OP2 years agoYou're wrong..so very very wrong..
They have professional shill bidders.
In car audio there is a guy, he's still selling in fact and eBay never did anything to him,
Look up justonemoreamp eBay scammer. Google it.
That seller goes back decades scamming people.
And he's still here today.. different account name.
He uses one account to bid up his items or just hits the bin with another account to create a fake base line price so others will tend to bid after they see someone bought the item at his stupid high prices.
It's a strategy to get people bid. The plan they use is to Advertise there products at stupid prices then opens 1 listing as a auction and uses one of their fake accounts to bid up that 1 listing to what they will accept usually around 500$.
This been going on for years .
Here is a item number
176264458061. You think that's worth 1000$?
It's just dumb.
Ebay really needs to do something bout this..
eBay is now the world's largest overpriced pawnshop.
People are selling junk for 1000$
I just showered you proof.
I also just showed you proof that there is strategies in place which eBay has set up for sellers to use he bin to make up prices and then offer that same item at a discount if you just bid on it. But the. Atch is the seller has already placed a bid to what he will accept..
Sorry to repeat but you people and eBay need to recognize this and eBay needs to fix it..
There is Facebook and website forums dedicated to trying to fix this by naming these scammers..
eBay does nothing about it .
Gotta go .

·2 years agoSo what. If the seller has priced the item too high, it is unlikely they will sell them. IDK why this seems like it is a problem to you. The problem is the seller wouldn't likely get to sell the time and will likely in time reduce the sell price.
As a buyer this shouldn't affect you in any way. As we have told you before so many times on this LONG thread, just move on. You don't have to buy the overpriced items and you aren't the gate keep for fair pricing on Ebay.
Not a soul on this thread has said that over pricing doesn't happen, but you keep posting about it over and over and over again as if we are arguing with you on this fact and we are NOT.

·2 years agoWhat you are talking about is called 'shill bidding.' It is against eBay policy, and you can read about that here:

https://www.ebay.com/help/policies/selling-policies/selling-practices-policy/shill-bidding-policy?id=4353&st=3&pos=1&query=Shill%20bidding%20policy&intent=shill%20bidding&lucenceai=lucenceai&docId=HELP1268
But as for how long a seller has a BIN listing posted -WHY DO YOU CARE? It's not YOUR server space, so what business is it of yours if a seller has something listed for a month or 10 years??? Why would you even THINK about how old a listing is???
It feels like there is something you are not saying, because your obsession with this subject simply does not make sense. Unless you are a little kid, you should know by now that some things are just more expensive than others, whether you think it's "right" or "fair" or whatever. Nor does it matter whether you think an item is "worth" as much as its' price.
I look at this, $11,500 for a dumb little handbag:
and what do you think my reaction is? Does it make me have a tantrum? Do I say Chanel is a "scammer"? NO, I LAUGH, just thinking about all the people out there who think a stupid purse is "worth" that much money.
And same goes for things that I consider overpriced on eBay, especially if those things are available elsewhere. Only STUPID people would spend an absurd amount of money on something that they could get cheaper from another seller, or another site. If all someone does is look at how much one seller charges and think the item is "worth" that much, they are a moron! So what does that have to do with YOU???
And the silliest parts of your argument was when you asked us to consider food and apartment prices. People NEED food and shelter. They don't need car audio systems or purses. And even if they think they do, there are thousands of brands and outlets from which to buy them, according to how much they can afford. Again, this is something you should have learned in childhood.

·2 years agoI'm going to answer you as a seller, one who has been selling here since 2013. Become a seller for one year, selling full time, and see if you still agree with what you have said.
There are listing fees. There are store fees monthly. The final value fee is charged to the seller on the total of the sale, yes on the tax and shipping too. Don't get me started on the price of shipping that goes up 3 times a year. Shipping materials cost money. Sellers have to buy the items, store the items, package the items, and ship the items.
There are entitled buyers who ask for 50% off an item even though there is no best offer on the item. There are buyers who abuse returns, costing sellers money for return shipping and/or refunding.
I have had items listed for a few minutes that have sold. I had a book listed that sold after 3 years. Both sales are important and the one that was listed for a long time is no less valid or important. Who are you to say that I can't have that item up for sale that long? I'm glad it isn't up to one person. It's up to the individual seller how long they keep their items for sale. I'm glad eBay doesn't take that freedom away from us.
Selling here is not easy and it isn't free or even cheap. I'm happy to sell here because it puts food on the table and I can control my own store.

an-57470
OP2 years agoWell. I guess it seems most of you like the eBay high prices .
I guess you all seem to also like paying high grocery prices .
Let me show you how this all works nowadays
1 item is posted at stupid high price.
That seller creates a second account and bids on it . This creates a fake sale where others see it and puts the idea in place that since someone else wants it at that price well then maybe I should have bid..
Seller rapists and then sometimes we see buyers actually buying this junk.
Same with apartments and condos.
If all the apartment buildings decided to rip people off and there's no other place to go shop for an apartment well then you're forced to pay the stupid price..
This so what has happened in eBay .
Thanks to the BIN stupidity, any kid can come along and list a stick of bubble gum for 750$.
Eventually give. Enough time all the sellers in eBay selling bubble gum will attempt this **bleep** and what happens is they may not get 750 bucks but some may get 250$ for a stick of bubble gum..
This is the problem in eBay .
There is no bargains cause as soon as one seller sees someone selling an item for a dollar more than the same item they have for sale, prices go up. Up up.
I don't really buy much in here .
I see things in websites other than eBay which are far less expensive ..
Plus eBay items are usually lacking in the warranty department .
Gotta go
That's my 2 cents .
If you all wanna keep paying and not having any chance at all biding . Then keep coming to eBay..

With 250 free listings, why not go ahead and list any old piece of junk, it doesn't cost you anything, right? Reduce the free listings for those without a store, plus increase the cost per listing for those without a store.
Keep store levels the same. When you pay for something, you are more selective about what that something is.

In 25 years we have never had a negative. Great feedback. Free shipping. Free returns. Top rated... Does any of that matter? I don't think so. We consistently see similar or the same item selling for more from other sellers than what we can get.

·2 years agoAs a TRS seller AND a frequent buyer, I would really appreciate it if they made a search filter to see listings by TRS sellers only. The vast majority of buyers would probably not use it, but I would, and it would be a free (as in not costing eBay anything) perk/reward for sellers who work hard enough for that status.
fbusoni
·2 years agoLike me, you are top rated plus.
That is a notch above "top rated," which is given out like candy from what I can tell.
eBay will never allow buyers to sort listings by reputation because that would seriously restrict cash flow and almost certainly expose eBay to legal challenges.
However, there is in fact a way to alter the computer screen display to show only TRPlus. But from what I can tell, you have to know html and javascript and perhaps one other computer language to implement it.
What you can do meantime is simply peruse a page of listings, then hit Ctrl-F, and type in "top rated plus" (without the quotation marks). This will at least find you quickly those TRPlus listings you are seeking.
mam98031

"That is a notch above "top rated," which is given out like candy from what I can tell."
IDK that I agree with this or think it is accurate, however we sure have a lot of sellers coming to the forums to complain they can't achieve it or have had it taken away.
fbusoni
·2 years ago"You don't know" if you agree with, or think what is accurate -- that Top rated plus exists? And that it is distinct from Top rated?
Respectfully, there is no room for guesswork here. There is a distinction. I'm sure if you had direct evidence, you would testify to same.
You need to let eBay know that you will pay for returns. Which, in the final analysis, is what most sellers do anyway when eBay rules against them once a case is opened and they lose everything. I make clear on my store home page that I pay for returns. Doing so obviously facilitates buyer decision-making.
You also need to let eBay know that you will ship within 24 hours. Admittedly, this is difficult for those who have full time jobs, kids, related responsibilities. I'm retired with nothing but free time and no obligations and I actually like mailing treasures to others. (I wrap everything I ship in eBay branded tissue paper, and those who buy from me are thrilled.)
If you do neither of those things, then you will not be granted TR Plus status because eBay's bots -- which scan seller settings 24/7 -- will not identify you as a seller who offers same.
As for the second part of your sentence: yes, TR Plus is not easy to achieve. And I have no doubt that it can be taken away because the requirements are rather stringent. That is something I will not be testing, because the benefits of TR Plus, in my experience, are absolutely terrific.
In sum, I have sold my soul to eBay and I have no regrets. Why fight eBay when you can simply capitulate and have eBay help you make money? Seems like a no brainer, quite frankly.

Slow down. I made a mistake, I acknowledge it and I've apologized. It doesn't have to be a bigger deal unless you want to make it one.

I make clear on my store home page that I pay for returns. Doing so obviously facilitates buyer decision-making.
Whether or not a seller pays for return shipping will depend on the type of Return Policy the seller has and the type of claim the buyer files. I don't think as many sellers allow Ebay to step into a claim as they are well aware of how that would likely turn out. Most sellers are aware of the pitfalls of doing that. Some don't of course as is clearly seen on the threads from time to time. But most regular sellers are likely well aware that it is not a good idea to ask Ebay to step in.
You also need to let eBay know that you will ship within 24 hours. Admittedly, this is difficult for those who have full time jobs, kids, related responsibilities. Yes to have a listing qualify for TRS+ you have to have 1 day handling and Free Returns. There are however many TRS that don't strive to have any of their listings TRS+, the discount just doesn't have as much value as it once did.
If you do neither of those things, then you will not be granted TR Plus status because eBay's bots -- which scan seller settings 24/7 -- will not identify you as a seller who offers same.
TRS is the status for the seller. TRS+ is a per listing designation that a TRS may choose to qualify for or not. Some, all or none of their listings.
As for the second part of your sentence: yes, TR Plus is not easy to achieve. And I have no doubt that it can be taken away because the requirements are rather stringent. That is something I will not be testing, because the benefits of TR Plus, in my experience, are absolutely terrific.
The listing designation of TRS+ only has ONE benefit and that is the 10% FVF discount. All other benefits follow the seller qualifying for TRS, with or without any listings qualifying for TRS+.

·2 years agoHow would a TRS filter limit cash flow or prompt legal challenges any more than any of these other filters?

Usually your posts seem quite insightful, so please don't take this as me 'splainin' what filters are, but just to put forward what my understanding of them is, they don't restrict search results unless a buyer wants them restricted, by some parameter (or multiple). Most selling platforms offer filters because they can INCREASE cashflow, by enabling buyers to quickly find what they want, rather than be so overwhelmed by a glut of results that they leave to buy elsewhere.
And by the way these^ aren't the only filters; above them on the results page is all the filters a buyer can use to restrict various qualities of the item itself (color, materials, condition, etc.). The fact that the more 'seller-centric' filters are further down the page could mean that eBay assumes they are less important to buyers than the item-centric ones, or maybe it's to avoid legal challenges, lol. -Sorry to laugh but people threaten to sue eBay all the time here and it's nothing but toothless ranting, you know that!

·2 years agoI've seen a TRS with thousands of negative feedback.

It is important also take into consideration how many transactions that seller is processing. A seller with 1,000 feedback and 10 negatives is quite different from a seller with 10,000 transaction and 10 negatives.
I absolutely agree that the responses sellers leave for any negative or neutral they may receive tells much more about the seller than the feedback the buyer left.

·2 years agoYou are "Top Rated."
If you offered to pay for returns, shipped same day / within 24 hours, and in your correspondence with buyers (which is analyzed by AI), were always polite and bent over backwards to demonstrate outstanding customer service, you might well be offered "Top rated plus." eBay has to invite you into the program.
I am the latter, as is @gurlcat, and in my experience, there is a significant difference between the two designations.
For example, when I add a listing -- regardless of category -- after a mere 10 minutes, it appears at the top of the search queue. No exceptions. If there is another TRPlus listing at the top, the two (or three or four or five) of us take turns, but we are always on the first page of citations. (The formulation of the search query will also have an influence, and it might drive us to page two or three, but not very often).
A very high percentage of my buyers are first timers on eBay. They came to my listings from Google, where eBay promotes my listings.
There are other benefits. Incidentally, I see that you don't have a video on your storefront. If you are able to add one, I highly recommend it. (Please don't listen to those here who dismiss such embellishments; there are buyers who actually enjoy such presentations, and they do in fact make a difference -- depending of course on the category in which you sell).
FWIW, I do everything that eBay recommends. It's part of what I refer to as my "feed the beast" strategy. I am convinced that eBay has a "for-eBay-use-only" file on all sellers, which rates us by unpublicized factors external to our metrics. regards
gurlcat
·2 years ago@Anonymous I'm going to join the small minority here and say I agree with your assessment of the problem. eBay leadership is also aware the site has a glut of overpriced items; you know this because they have programed so many various intrusive prompts, geared toward trying to get us to lower our prices, and maybe (hopefully) they have those prompts set algorithmically, according to each seller's sell-through rate. I price to move things FAST because I just hate having old listings, yet I still get what seems like a lot of banners, popups, and emails urging me to be even cheaper.
Anyway none of that seems to work on some people, but what else can be done? Unfortunately I can't support your relist fee idea, simply for the fact that it wouldn't work unless eBay removed the 'end/sell similar' feature. And if they did that ..... well put it this way, you don't ever see me threatening to leave here, but THAT would do it, LOL.

They actually don't understand how it currently works. Ebay does charge a relist fee. They always have. It is just now we all get a certain amount of free listings, so as things relist, it goes against that pocket of listing fees. Once we use it up, then we start paying more fees.
Ebay use to charge "tiered" listing fees. It took us many years of complaints for Ebay to come to the realization that it wasn't such a good policy and made things more complicated for sellers. So that has been tried and it isn't likely to come back.
They also seem to be unaware that "shipping scams" are alive and well all over the internet.

·2 years agoeBay already has a listing charge threshold - over 250 listings, you either pay per listing or pay for a store. And I'm not sure charging a fee will do much good, anyway - Etsy has a nominal fee and it's filled with junk and has an even worse search engine. Granted, it doesn't have the sludge level of ebay, but eBay is huge.

·2 years agoNow that you mention it, I've been looking for my "Sludge Level" on Seller Hub, but I can't find it.

·2 years agoThe only reliable value of an item is what a willing buyer and a willing seller agree on.
Your opinion may be no more accurate than any of the sellers who offend you.
Many of the sellers who you might think are asking an outrageously high price may eventually get that price or close to it.
Some sellers can and do sell at higher prices than others can.
Many is the time that I picked up my phone and called a higher on the food chain reseller and negotiated a price well above what I could get on Ebay, and he then turned it for a profit within a day.
I know that when I run an auction on Ebay, many of the buyers I get will flip the item at a higher price.
I am above plankton on the food chain, but not much above plankton.

·2 years agoIf people are pricing their things way too high, then the ones that are priced normally will sell theirs first. I would think the outlandish prices are actually helping the people that are putting more correct prices on their items. I've listed something for $10.00 that someone had the exact same thing for $400.00. Guess who sold theirs right away.
The other side of the coin are the people that whine about being undercut on prices. They think if their thing is $10.00, everyone should list it at $10.00. In their mind, shame on someone that puts $8.00 on something.
Free listings aren't necessarily "FREE", either. The people that get a huge amount of free listings are usually paying a monthly fee, as much as $2995 a month for an enterprise store (or lesser amounts for smaller store categories, of course). If I were paying that much for a store, I'd want as much listed and relisted as possible.
Bottom line is that people are free to list what they want, when they want, however long they want to list it for. New buyers are starting all the time, and it's all new to them. I agree that the market is overrun with cheap or ordinary Walmart and Dollar Store junk, but those are the people complaining they aren't selling anything either. And U.S. buyers continue to buy stuff from Chinese sellers, even though they will tell you it's bad to do so.

·2 years agoSeriously?-there are more important issues in the world to be concerned about. The fact that some sellers on ebay charge too much for their dirty junk (or maybe clean junk) is not a concern of mine. Apparently you do not want to hear "what someone is willing to pay" but that is exactly the answer. If ebay sellers do not offer a low price, the buyers can go elsewhere.

·2 years agoWait.
You are in FAVOR of ebay charging sellers more fees?
Are you from California?

·2 years agoBack in the day eBay charged 25 cents per listing for a one week auction. And in that era, everything sold. We were very pleased!
The market scape changed dramatically. eBay now gives anyone 250 free listings for 30 days, then rolls them over indefinitely. Auctions are also free, but you have the option to roll them over for a total of 9 weeks. Why does eBay do this? Not out of the goodness of their corporate heart... but because that's what it takes to sell stuff today!

·2 years agoI see these items get relisted for very long periods. Things that should cost 50$ or actually 1000$
I don't really encounter this. And since I search by "Price - Lowest", it would not really matter if I did. And even if eBay did do as you asked, sellers would simply end the listing and use "Sell similar" and get around it.
As a seller, when I see an overpriced item I get excited because that makes my normal priced item look like a bargain.

·2 years agoi preferred when there was a listing fee too...there were more quality items then...now you have to scroll through tons of garbage that really should never be listed but donated if that...some items i've seen have been here for over five years with no sale...but there are far too many junk items, search is pretty much broken...listing fees though unpopular would tend to bring higher quality items at prices that are more competitive...
mam98031
·2 years agoThat can be an issue. But then if the seller doesn't sell the item they will eventually get rid of it.
What the OP is asking for would not help with pricing. If Ebay increases fees, then sellers have to increase pricing to cover the new fees.
an-57470
OP2 years agoWrong.
If a person is allowed to do what they want all the time, they gonna abuse that..
Theft! It's rampant. Sellers are trying really hard to legit sell junk to people that don't know any better. I'm ot gonna argue about what junk is not isn't..we all can easily see many of eBay sellers are now just blatantly selling pure hot junk at Walmart prices..
New eBay members see that and leave..quick!
They go straight to Amazon..
eBay had a good thing years ago..
They ruined it..
Search is now ruined..
Pricing ruined.
Only thing is the niche items that arent found elsewhere...
mam98031
·2 years agoDon't misrepresent what I said to further your agenda. I never said or implied that sellers can do what they want. Ebay has rules, Ebay has lots of rules for sellers.
What does "theft" have to do with your desire to significantly curb how sellers can list things? "Theft" by buyers is a significant issue for sellers, but has Nothing to do with your call for significant restrictions on how sellers can list items.
Things that are junk and won't sell is an issue for that seller. If it doesn't sell, they will remove it at some point. But you can't determine what "junk" is for everyone that uses this site. While you feel you can speak for everyone, it simply isn't logical.
Amazon does not have nearly the variety of things Ebay has. Amazon doesn't allow many things to be listed on their site and it has nothing to do with your definition of "junk". So while Amazon is an alternative for some things, there are many things it is not.
an-57470
OP2 years agoYes. Thank u. Glad someone agrees.
eBay is now a huge nothing . Well , if you count the scammers it's something but other than that it's nothing.
Only thing I find on eBay worth bidding on is things I can't get down the road .
Those things are usually sold from China..
The mom and pop stores are selling junk from 25 years ago at Walmart prices.
This is just dumb . I can assure people, I am not just one person saying this.
I'm here to at least try and get eBay to listen...cause really they are reaching for straws trying to get the income they want by forcing fees but they doing it wrong.

You just need to give yourself some time to learn how the site works and get some selling experience.
Ebay does charge for relisting items. That would be something you would know or will learn with some selling experience. Ebay does give sellers some free listings each month, so if you don't go over that allocation you won't literally be charged anything to relist. But if you go over your free allocations, then you will get charged.
It is also so important to remember that your point of view is not the only point of view. It simply is yours. While you may see junk others will see something they need, want or can use for some purpose. That is exactly how this site was initially built.
So gather some experience and then come back and see if your point of view might just change a bit.

·2 years agoGo look at anything on Amazon that has things available from 3rd parties and you will see the exact same thing. The only difference is that Amazon spotlights the best price.
You are also assuming a level of competence that 90 percent of ebay sellers do not have.
90 percent of ebay sellers guess almost all their prices with no research or think their item is somehow better because they touched it. These sellers only get sales when they guess low or when the market prices change and rise to meet their prices. These sellers are in these forums daily starting threads about getting no sales and none of them want to hear that it is about their prices.
Those who actually research their prices, price things to sell and get most of the sales are a small minority, I would say 10 percent at the most.
The thing is that very few ebay sellers start out as one of the 10 percent, almost everyone starts out in the 90 percent price guessers who think their item is special because they touched it. Most never move on, even after 20 years, but those who do move on to actually trying to sell things each make ebay many thousands of dollars per year.
Also, the 90 percent are also responsible for almost 100 percent of the "killer deals" people find on ebay, because they did no research and guessed low or put a longtail item on 99 cent auction or otherwise made a mistake.

·2 years ago"Please eBay. Fix this.
Once you figure out how to fix this problem I'm sure people will start to shop here more.
As of now people are really stunned and shocked and running away at the site of these dumb prices".
If people are not smart enough to comparative shop on any website, its probably for the best that they do run away. Ebay is buyercentric enough, they dont need to hold buyers hand while they do shop.

·2 years agoI have some items that I listed back in March 2022 when I first joined e-bay. They are NASCAR yearbooks from UMI. I paid around $40.00 each for them. At first I listed them at $25.00 each. I was at $10.50 each as of a few days ago. In the description box I added a line that if you bought 3 - 5, price would be $8.00 ea. and 10-11 at $7.00 each. So that is over 52 months that they have been relisted. With a relisting charge I would have left long ago. The fees are bad enough as it is. Your idea punishes everybody because of the actions of a few.

·2 years agoSame here. Back in the 90's I would buy one to put on the book shelf and read and another to keep in the box brand new. I sold a few I think I've got about 4 left, I haven't looked lately but I think I'm down to $15 and I'm even including the poster that came with them. I think I originally listed them in 2020, I have relisted them since. One of these days I'll just pull them and put them back in the attic and the daughter can deal with them after I'm gone.
mike_jayroe
·2 years agoI am ready to give up selling. I am taking a time out and once I get my brothers affairs in order, and I have time to get back, I am going to make major changes on how I list items. I am tired of spending so much time thinking about it.
I rather spend more time with my two golden retrievers, doing yard/house work, reading or watching t.v.
an-57470
OP2 years agoThat's cause eBay seems to think it's ok to shadow ban peoples auctions . Not gonna get into that subject but we all know the search engine is now almost useless and they want people to pay to be able to be seen in searches...
Overall I don't think any of you are really doing anything to fix eBay. What can you all do? Speak up..sed emails to corporate. Request changes.
Stop pretending it will just get better it won't.

·2 years agoHas she been a pretty lousy daughter or something? Why not put kitchen scraps, dryer lint and maybe the dog's poo in the attic while you're at leaving her junk that you know nobody wants?
My daughter's kind of lousy but still I dread the idea of dying suddenly without having made arrangements for my inventory and dead piles. Even with a portion of my possessions being worth money, she isn't familiar enough with any of it to tell the trash from the treasure, things that took me years to learn. She can tell a quarter from a nickel, but a silver from a clad, no, never mind an ordinary clad from one with a desirable error on it. And that's just tiny things, which she could put in a shoebox and take home to figure out later, but my collective "hoard" would require at least a 10x10 storage unit, and I suspect she'd be so overwhelmed that by the time she got around to sorting it and figuring out everything's worth (or lack thereof) and figuring out how/where to sell the worthwhile stuff ....... she'd have done it for a loss, considering the crazy monthly fees on storage units now.
I think anyone who's had a hoarder parent die would agree that trying to figure out what to do with all their stuff just adds stress to grief. I admit I don't yet have a plan but then I'm young enough that I don't think I'll be gone anytime soon. And leaving my kid junk that will take her time, space and effort just for her to realize is junk .... that is definitely not THE plan.

·2 years agoAll she'll have to do is call the auction company and have them do an estate sale. Stuff might bring pennies on the dollar but at least I don't have to see it and she won't have to worry about it.
I'll even help her out, I'll give her the number for the auction company and the combination to the safe. 😂

·2 years agoI can agree that people throw something out there to see if it sticks..kinda started with gaming when new system came out 350,000 for a X-box or whatever similar. I'm sure some people sold a few at big prices from rich Youtubers, but I think them days are over. So people should check their prices during listing, and be at least competitive. You cant trust Ebays "similar items sold for..." gotta put in the time and research. Its like going into a Antique store 90% is over-priced. I sorry to people who own them, but around NW Pa I cant find anything that is a decent deal in them.

·2 years agoMy idea is, if I don't like the price, I keep looking.
A seller can price their item at whatever price they want.

·2 years agoThe issue appears to be that there are too few buyers that have an abundance of time to invest ,& therefore deterred to contiue a search after vieeing items listed at astronomical prices , & motivating some buyers to purchase elsewhere to the detriment of other Ebay sellers who offer items at decent, customary & competitive pricing .
