Reporting a Buyer for Trying to Do Business Outside Ebay
Just received a message from a buyer asking if i was interested in selling my item off ebay for a discount, after I had previously told them I wasn't interested in lowering my buy it now price. I told them no, i was not interested in selling offline. My question is, is there a form that you can report the person quickly to ebay. All I see when you click on report a buyer, it asks for an item number, but that's not relevant if the person hasn't bought from you. I looked up their feedback history and i see a lot of private transactions, (don't know what that means) and one seller saying over a year ago terrible buyer, not to sell to this person. Thanks for any help. I'm a fairly new seller since May 2023 and this is the first time I've encountered this.

·2 years agoBest not to reply to those sort of messages as you could find you're the one getting an eBay warning about trying to sell off-site.
I've seen a few posts where that has happened.

when a message ever has to do with anything like going outside eBay for transactions it is best not to have your user ID anywhere on it

·2 years agoI had a strange inquiry the other day, I listed a vase for $22, and I do have best offer on most of my listings including this vase.
So the person messages me through ebay and says, "Good afternoon, my options are stuck. Would you accept $15 for the vase".
I had no idea what he meant "his options are stuck". So I messaged him back and said, "yes I will accept $15 for the vase. Please go into the listing and make that offer and I will accept it".
I never heard back from him.
Was he hinting to take the transaction off ebay? I don't know, but I don't think so because he had over 225 feedbacks.
The "my options are stuck" comment though struck me as very weird.

Maybe he remembered Valentines Day is coming but he gambled all the money away and needs to get his wife something???

·2 years agoor it could be someone who does not really know how to use ebay or something in the ebay offer was not working correctly, I had one recently where the buyer was having problems for some reason and I ended up just adjusting the listing price and it all worked out fine.

·2 years agothe best thing to do is ignore it, I would not respond even to decline because remember AI is apparently running the place and the AI powered bot sees a attempt by a buyer to go outside ebay and it also sees that you responded.
Besides that reporting things to ebay is usually pointless and I am not interested in a non paying job as a ebay deputy enforcer

And I'd not waste time and energy reporting this to eBay.
Also, just in case you didn't know, eBay does not allow a seller to leave a negative for a buyer.
Any time that happens, the affected buyer can report it to eBay and it will be removed. The seller will have earned a defect.

·2 years agoI believe you would flag/report them via the ebay message you received from them.
Action > Report message
