Replica toy gun
Ebay is terribly inconsistent on guidelines for listing toy gun replicas. I have listed several such listings in the past and some have been removed because I didn't include the disclaimer, "This replica gun contains all the colored markings required by law, including a permanently attached orange plug". And yet, even today, other listings DON'T include this disclaimer and are allowed to be listed. It would be nice if all listings of this nature were adhered to by Ebay. Even solid, metal cast guns which can NOT fire anything seem to require this, yet BB guns which CAN fire something do not require a disclaimer. Makes NO sense!

·5 months agoThe listings you did were also available until eBay removed them. The other ones you have seen will also get removed if eBay finds them.

·5 months agoebay makes you put that in your listing even on an item manufactured before 1988 that does not require orange markings or orange plugs by law.
it isn't for your safety or the consumers safety its for lawyers.
its ebay's rules, you gotta follow them, even the secret ones.

There is a recall on a model of Corning ware coffee pot...ebay doesn't care if the one you have for sale was the model that was recalled or not...you put corning and coffee in your listing it is getting pulled.
Is it worth fighting about? That $35 I could sell them for once a year is not worth it for me.

Enforcement on a site this large is inconsistent.

·5 months agoeBay’s position is usually that the existence of other non-compliant listings does not justify yours, they will not consider whataboutism defense.

I've had a similar experience recently with a perfectly within-policy listing taken down while others are selling like hotcakes.
You're beating your head against the wall if you take the time to address this further.
Just accept your lot in life that rules (even if mis-applied) apply to you but not to others and move forward.
Even if you report these other listings, they likely won't be taken down.
It's all we can do.

·5 months agoWhat other listings have doesn't matter all that matters is your listings were removed. If you feel a listing of another seller violates policy report the listing. Let Ebay make a decision then move on. Do not fight trying to keep this listing up. Is selling these toy gun replicas worth your account? If yes and you want to fight to prove a point you will lose. Just telling you up front. As another member just stated you will eventually get banned. Not worth the headache. List your toy gun elsewhere.

·5 months agoWatch out, if they keep removing them you will be banned from selling for life. Best to avoid anything related to pew pews, real or toy.
