Removed (Reported) Listing and Restricted Listing
I listed an old, discontinued fragrance (listed it as used), the listing was up for two weeks when someone reported the listing and Ebay's AI removed it. After reading ebay's terms that used cosmetics are not allowed, I deleted the listing.
Out of curiosity I just checked sold items for similar brand/fragrance and two products identified as used from other sellers had sold within the past two weeks. Before I listed this fragrance, I did see other older and used perfume listings had both listed and sold recently and many listings for old, vintage, collectible, discontinued fragrances are still listed.
Just wondering why ebay still allows other open bottle products to still be listed and sell?
I also have a toy listing, I tried to revise it to change the price but the listing is now restricted so I cannot change it. I can see the item is in 2 carts but did not receive any offers. I did send out offers a number of days ago with no response so those offers should have expired already. Is it because two buyers put the item in their carts? The item could stay in their carts indefinitely and I will not be able to change the listing?
I know ebay is currently doing a lot of updates and things can sometimes get funny, just wondering if this restriction is temporary?

·5 months agoJust because a listing is up and hasn't been removed doesn't mean it will not be removed eventually or has been already but a seller is taking a risk relisting it. You can report listings which violate policy.
If you send out offers they may have not expired yet so you are restricted from changing the price until those offers expire. You can also just end the listing and price change it when relisting.

OP5 months agoAh, ok, thanks. I don't want to report another individual's listing. I can message them just to let them know what happened to me so they are aware of ebay's terms since I didn't know. I will wait out the toy listing for the next few days and see if I can revise it then.

·5 months agoI am sure they will appreciate you pointing that out in eBay's monitored messaging system. Why can't you just do you and let others do themselves?
As far as the perfume, it is all in how you market the item. As an indirect illustrative example: I have a vintage magazine I'm going to list. That magazine is worth about $20. Inside the magazine, there is a highly collectable ad. If I market the listing for the ad, it will reach for $100. Again, I say, it is how you market the item.

·5 months agoPlease don't message other sellers about their listings. Some sellers consider this harrassment, some consider it interference from competition, some consider it whatever they want to consider it, especially if they see you are also a seller and a newish one at that. Most don't or won't care what happened to you, and if they are not aware of any of eBay's terms, that is on them.
Just go about your business of taking care of your own listings and leave everyone else alone.
