Reminder: how you CAN see blocked buyers' messages
Summary: gurlcat shared insights about a feature on eBay that allows sellers to view messages from blocked buyers using the 'My eBay Selling Overview'. This section shows unread messages from blocked buyers that do not appear in the regular inbox. They pointed out that although the messages can be viewed, they are often truncated, and any attempts to reply redirect to the standard inbox without a message box. gurlcat also mentioned preferring this overview for its quick access to purchases and feedback functionalities.
I posted about this sometime back but I made a slightly new discovery about it today. -For those who have no idea what I'm talking about: buyers in your Blocked Buyer List can send you messages but they just don't go to your inbox, so you don't know if there's anything important they said, and they believe you're just ignoring them. But if you use the old-skool homepage version of eBay called My eBay Selling Overview https://www.ebay.com/mys/overview?MyEbayBeta&CurrentPage=MyeBayNextAllSelling
there is a section down the middle of the screen that says Messages from buyers, and any recent ones from buyers in your BBL show up there!
Note: The message in this^ example is short enough that it's fully visible, but there is a character limit in this display, so if they wrote past the first line, it truncates, displaying '.....' at the end. And if you're curious, clicking that Reply just takes you to your regular inbox, with no message text box, because as far as your regular inbox "knows," this buyer never wrote to you.
What I discovered today: this Messages section shows only UNREAD messages, from only buyers (not eBay). So if you know you've read all messages in your regular inbox, then any showing up in this Overview version MUST be from BBL buyers. But of course you can verify by going to your BBL and seeing if the names are in there.
There are actually enough things about the Overview version that I like, that I keep bookmarks of both it and the Hub version in my bookmarks bar, to use. Overview offers the quickest pathway to Purchases, and a really easy way to do Feedbacks for buyers quicker than in Hub. But that's another post. If you just don't find Overview useful, disregard.
