Relisting Fees on Auctions
Summary: The discussion revolves around the topic of relisting fees on auctions. Participants are sharing concerns and cautionary advice about automatically relisted items, noting that insertion or option listing upgrade fees won't apply to items relisted up to eight times. However, authentic*vintage emphasizes that this promotion seems to primarily benefit new sellers and is unlikely to be a permanent offer, highlighting the importance for sellers to remain vigilant about potential charges in the future.

Hi, everyone!
I'm a brand new seller just getting rid of his video game collection, and I am doing all of my listings via auctions. I have used all 250 of my free listings for the month.
I had an auction end with 0 bids, and I relisted it. My question is about whether or not I get charged an insertion fee for the relist, only because I have already used my 250 free listings. Does the relist count as a new listing, or do relists not count as a "new" listing since they were already created?
I just don't want to get hit with a lot of insertion fees if a lot of items end with 0 bids.
Thanks for your time!

I went onto Seller Hub and where I could bulk edit all my listings for auto-relisting, this message appears from eBay: "Automatically relisted items won’t be charged insertion or option listing upgrade fees. Final value fees still apply. If your item doesn’t sell after 8 relists, it will appear in your unsold items."
I think this answers my question?

I talked to an eBay support agent via phone call, and he explicitly stated that the item can be relisted 8 times for free, so I'm considering this a done deal, but thank you to everyone for your comments! I appreciate how fast I can get a question answered here and will definitely use this again if I ever need it. Happy Memorial Day! 🙂

"Automatically relisted items won’t be charged insertion or option listing upgrade fees discussion in your post......Relisting up to 8 times.
I "think" that offer applies to new sellers and, from posts on this board, it will not last forever. So be sure you are alert to the possibility of being charged at some point.

·4 months agoI edited my post to include this as well - the 8 free relists seems to be a promotion type freebie for very new sellers and does not appear to be permanent.

·4 months agoIf you are over your "250 free" total and you relist item (whether auction or buy-it-now) you are charged a fee. Buy-It-Now listing (roll over every month) so you are charged for every month item is listed.
Also, I wanted to point out, you only get 250 free TOTAL (you do NOT get an additional 250 every month). If EBAY did that nobody would pay any money to list items (that is how EBAY makes money).
To determine how many "free listings" you still have available, go to the Seller Hub, Promotional Offers (will tell you how many "free listings" are available. It will show numbers like this (used 624, available 376). I pay for EBAY Store so I get total of 1,000 free listings/monthly.

·4 months agoI want to help clarify this for the OP - each month your free listings reset to 250 - this is how it works and what to watch out for:
You’ll receive an allocation of zero insertion fee listings every month. These enable you to list items for sale in many categories with no insertion fees, though other fees may still apply. You’ll only pay insertion fees after using up these listings.
Your monthly zero insertion fee listings
No Store package
Up to 250 listings
New Listings: Every brand-new listing you create eats up 1 of your 250
Good 'Til Canceled (GTC) Renewals: This is the big one. Fixed-price listings automatically renew every 30 days. Every single time a listing hits its rollover mark and automatically renews, it counts as a brand-new insertion and eats 1 of your 250 free spots for that month.
Manual or Auto-Relists: If an auction ends without selling and you (or eBay) relist it, that uses another free insertion. (From what I have found, promotional free relists are made available to new sellers but are not permanent so don't assume that the relists are not eating into your 250 monthly)
Ending Listings Early: If you end an item early and list it again later that same month, both actions count against your 250 allocation.
You will want to bulk edit and turn OFF auto-relist on auction listings - if you are listing BIN items, keep it under 250 each calendar month to avoid extra fees.

·4 months agoI will have no store starting June 1st and will use my free listings to run auctions. With the store I never bothered to see how many listings I use or have left. I'll need to track this more carefully going forward to make sure I don't go over 250 used in a month I guess.

·4 months agoAre you trying to sell each game individually? That could be a hard sell.

OP4 months agoI'm in no rush to sell, so the way I'm doing it right now doesn't bother me. I'm only worried about the fees.

·4 months agoIf you want to sell them slowly instead of in one large lot, why not use Buy It Now instead?
Auctions give you a quick sale and reduced profit.

·4 months agoIt is possible you could be charged for relisting the Auctions.
Just know that anytime you have to relist (Auction or Buy It Now) you will be charged. Charge meaning it could be a Fee or it could come off one of your monthly 250 free listings. If the Auction is automatically relisted then it is free.
While creating the listing did you accept the offer and check the block to relist up to 8 times?
If you accepted the offer of up to 8 times just know that eBay may end the listing before it has been relisted 8 times. In this case there would be a charge to relist the auction.

·4 months agoYes, when you relist, it'll be a new listing.
You're only getting 1 bid on your auctions.
I'd ditch auctions and list as a fixed price.

OP4 months agoThanks for your message!
I reached out to eBay help, and they said I didn't get charged the insertion fee because I had one free listing when eBay says I have 0, so now I'm extra confused.
