Relishing after scam offer
Does EBay still make sellers wait 5 DAYS to cancel and relist an item after a scammer buys, doesn’t pay, and instead sends scammy messages asking for my phone number so they can text me?
If so that’s a terrible policy to make sellers wait a week to be able to relist…

·3 years agoIt actually used to be worse, if you can believe it. Make sure that buyer gets their strike as that will ban that account from purchasing from any seller who has their buyer preferences set to 2 'unpaid items' (deadbeats) per year.

·3 years agoAh, the good ole days of snail-mailed paper payments: waiting 7 days before you could file a case and 7 more days to close it. We were so patient back then ...

·3 years agoEven after snail mail payments were dropped I think it was still several days longer. We should have the option to tighten the window to two days (right now payment window is 4-30 days, IIRC). Actually, 24 hours would be better.

·3 years agoYou can cancel the transaction based on "Buyer hasn't paid" after 4 days and one minute. Not 5 days, and certainly not a full week.
You can even relist before that if you're willing to take the tiny risk that the original buyer will actually pay. But if you're 100% sure that they won't, then go right ahead.

If you accepted an offer, you should be able to report the buyer "for trying to take the sale off eBay". In addition, there is also a way to report the message in the eBay message system as well under the ACTION tab in the menu bar.
This will often lead to the buyer ID being canned prior to the usual 5 day wait, but sometimes you just have to wait to cancel the sale for non-payment.
